We are seeking a staff accountant who will be responsible for a broad range of activities including maintaining the general ledger, AP invoice processing and payments, vendor management, reconciliations, and month-end close procedures.  We are looking for a hands-on problem solver who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys working across multiple aspects of accounting.  This role will report into the Controller.

Your Role

  • Own accounting for multiple entities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and banking
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for bank, payroll, and balance sheet accounts
  • Manage credit card coding, processing, and reconciliations with precision
  • Support annual financial and 401(k) audits, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Tackle complex accounting challenges with a creative, analytical approach
  • Train and guide colleagues, enhancing team knowledge and efficiency
  • Drive process improvements to refine and scale accounting operations
  • Take on higher-level tasks like financial analysis and management reporting
  • Navigate ambiguity with a problem-solving mindset, bringing order to complexity
  • Communicate effectively with professionalism across all levels
  • Understand AP processes and the full accounting cycle
  • Proactively support the team, improving systems and workflows
  • Assist in other accounting activities as needed
  • Build strong relationship and work collaboratively with cross-functional partners

Your Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent in accounting or finance
  • 2-4 years related work experience
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally with clients and across all levels of the organization
  • Strong attention to detail and dedication to accurate and high-quality work
  • Proficient on Microsoft Excel and aptitude for learning new software
  • Experience with NetSuite preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant with Big 4 public accounting firm experience preferred
  • This role is an in-office, full-time, and exempt position. We are a work from office culture with lots of flexibility

Compensation:

  • Pay: $65,000 - $80,000 per year

What to Expect in the Hiring Process


1. Values in Action Self-Assessment - At Brighton Jones we don’t just talk about our values, we live by them! We’ve operationalized our values into observable behaviors and part of the application process includes completing a brief self-assessment on our Values in Action. 


2. Initial Interview - This 30-min chat with a recruiter or hiring manager gives us a chance to learn about your background and goals and share more about the role and company. 


3. Role Alignment - Next you’ll meet with the hiring manager and a peer (virtual or in-person) to dive deeper into the role, responsibilities, and your transferrable experiences. 


4. Full Loop - You’ll meet the team in two, back-to-back interviews with team members you’re likely to work with. During these conversations, we’ll be listening to examples of your technical skills as well as how core values show up in your experience. There may also be a writing sample, role play, hiring, or technical assessment depending on the position. 


5. Personal Reference Calls - In this final step in the hiring process, you will be asked to arrange 1-2 personal reference calls with past managers of our choosing.
