Atlassian is looking for an experienced Sr. Contracts Manager to join our hard-working Procurement Team. We are looking for a contracts manager who has strong attention for detail and experience in technology, such as hardware, software/SaaS, and hosted infrastructure and technology consulting services. You'll work closely with key partners across Atlassian. You will build effective cross-functional working relationships and actively participate in worldwide contracts management. You will have exposure and interaction with departments across the company and world as well as our external suppliers, so strong social and communication skills are a requirement. You will be a trusted partner and advisor to Sourcing colleagues and internal customers providing practical and timely contractual guidance, identification of contractual risks and informed consent, and excellence in drafting contract documents.
You'll also have input in development of the contracts management function within Procurement at Atlassian, helping to build out playbooks, contract templates and process improvement documentation.
In this role, you'll get to:
- Work alongside IT, Hosted Infrastructure, Development groups, Marketing, Workplace Experience, and other internal business customers.
- Provide pragmatic, business-minded guidance to our business owners on contract-related issues.
- Structure, draft and negotiate a broad range of inbound supplier contracts, with strong emphasis on SaaS, IT and professional services.
- Analyze use cases with business owners to choose appropriate contract forms.
- Work closely with the Legal team to triage contract issues.
- Contribute to various contract process improvement, documentation and reporting projects.
- Work alongside Procurement Sourcing personnel, facilitate supplier negotiations, including negotiation strategy development, pricing, SLAs, and other contract terms and conditions.
- Work alongside the commercial contract group within Atlassian Legal to learn core Atlassian legal strategies, develop contract templates and general commercial negotiation guidelines.
- Provide contract-related issue resolution, both internally and externally
On your first day, we'll expect you to have:
At least 5+ years of experience drafting and negotiating supplier contracts, with an emphasis on SaaS and professional services.
BA or BS (J.D. and/or CIPP-E or CIPP-US certification is a plus, but not required).
Awareness of data privacy issues.
Ability to take ownership, roll up your sleeves, and get things done.
Ability to build relationships with business stakeholders to strengthen the connection between our team and the business.
Ability to navigate a decentralized and complex organization spread across the globe.
Ability to communicate with the business and suppliers to help them understand and follow the rules and parameters of the contracting process.
Passion and diligence to embrace our business model and Atlassian culture.
Ability to work independently while supporting all levels of the company.
Excellent judgment and strong negotiation and customer service skills.
Ability to understand legal, risk and business impacts to contract language.
Ability to focus amidst evolving and maturing environments
Ability to Play as a TEAM.
It's great, but not required if you have:
- 5+ years as a contracts manager, or other comparable experience within a corporate legal or Procurement department
- Confluence, JIRA and Coupa experience

This role reports to the Atlassian Procurement Team which is part of the global finance and strategy department within the CFO organization. You would be joining a hardworking and collaborative distributed team that is always growing, learning, and adapting. The team has a positive relationship with the business with responsibility for planning, pricing and business insights.
Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $129,200 - $172,200
Zone B: $116,200 - $155,000
Zone C: $107,200 - $142,900
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
