We're looking for a Principal Business Intelligence Engineer to join a high-performing team passionate about solving business problems with advanced analytics. You will translate raw data into valuable business insights, guide initiatives to measure the health of Cloud Migrations, build dashboards and support key performance indicators. The ideal candidate has a background in data engineering, proficiency in SQL, proven data visualization skills, and experience engaging with executive audiences. The candidate will be comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment, displaying big-picturing thinking while paying careful attention to detail.

  • Partner with senior leaders to translate business needs into technical requirements, data products and actionable insights.
  • Design, develop, and optimize key business metrics, reports, analyses and dashboards to drive business decisions
  • Use data visualization, statistics, and storytelling to effectively answer open-ended business questions
  • Manage data pipelines, reports, and dashboards
  • Work with data engineers on our scalable data infrastructure for analytics
  • Present data results, analyses and recommendations to senior leaders
  • Document and provide training for business users on BI tools and data workflows
  • Continually improve the dashboard experience, automating or simplifying self-service support for end-users


  • Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business/Data Analytics or a related field
  • Minimum 4 years of experience creating dashboards and interactive reports in BI tools (Tableau, Streamlit, Databricks, etc)
  • Minimum 2 years of SQL experience with a solid understanding of CTEs, Sub-queries, and window functions
  • Minimum 4 years experience in an analytics field with data engineering exposure
  • Working knowledge of Databricks to write production-level queries and publish visualizations
  • Experience presenting data insights and recommendations to senior leaders and executives
  • Experience with Git-based tools like BitBucket
  • Experience defining technical requirements and using data and metrics to draw actionable insights


Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $149,000 - $198,700
Zone B: $134,100 - $178,800
Zone C: $123,700 - $164,900
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
