    • We maintain a key focus on Education changemakers to help young people from under-resourced communities build the skills they need to work and thrive.
  • We empower Atlassians to be the change they seek, through a scalable, incentive-driven approach to volunteering and giving.
  • We revolutionise corporate philanthropy by motivating and supporting business to embed social impact into their DNA through the Pledge 1% movement we co-founded.

Role Details
We are seeking a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Lead to join the Atlassian Foundation team. Reporting to the Director of Strategy and Impact, you will be responsible for the monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities across the Foundation's programmes and portfolios.
As our programme portfolio has expanded in size and complexity, there is a growing need for strategic programme design, systematic impact monitoring, evidence-based decision-making, and learning processes. In 2024, enhancing our strategic learning activities stands as a top priority for the Foundation.
You will lead the establishment of a comprehensive, organization-wide approach to strategic learning and evaluation. You will guide the Foundation team through the entire MEL process, from designing frameworks and data collection processes to analysis, progress tracking, and measurement. Additionally, you will cultivate a culture of learning and evaluation within the organization, driving collaborative change, mentoring and training the team, and advising leadership.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:

  • Develop and implement an impact (MEL) framework for the Foundation's strategy, programmes, and partnerships in collaboration with team members.
  • Define methods to assess progress towards the Foundation's overarching goals and implement this approach across programmes.
  • Integrate MEL into diverse programs to enhance the Foundation's ability to measure, track, and evaluate program quality and effectiveness.
  • Assist programme teams in developing theories of change, defining outcomes, assessing progress, analyzing data, and deriving insights to improve program design and delivery.
  • Ensure high-quality, timely, valid, and verifiable data collection, reporting, analysis, and learning.
  • Collaborate with the Foundation's Technology and Data Lead to develop data collection systems and optimize data management systems for monitoring and evaluation.
  • Produce customized reports to provide a comprehensive overview of project progress and impact.
  • Foster a culture of learning, experimentation, inquiry, risk tolerance, and learning from failures.
  • Support the professional development of team members in impactful program design and impact measurement.
  • Provide technical support and upskilling in monitoring and evaluation, data collection and analysis, and learning agenda development.
  • Synthesize and communicate insights in collaboration with the Foundation Communications Lead to support evaluation and learning efforts.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Strategy and Impact to align learnings with ongoing strategy refinement and resource allocation for desired impact.

On your first day, you will bring...

  • 10+ years of research and evaluation experience in the social sector
  • Track record in design, delivery, and evaluation of social impact programmes
  • Proficiency in developing comprehensive platforms for diverse data gathering, consolidation, analysis, and dashboard creation.
  • Specialised knowledge in impact assessment techniques and tools such as interviews, surveys, affinity mapping, and data visualisation. Familiarity with Theory of Change, Programme Logic, and Impact Measurement Frameworks.
  • Strong program and project management skills. Ability to effectively prioritize, oversee, and monitor multiple intricate projects simultaneously, with the capability to operate autonomously in a dynamic, rapidly evolving setting.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities in English. Aptitude for making complex topics understandable and relevant to diverse audiences.
  • Comfort collaborating with remote/hybrid teams and willingness to coordinate across time zones and participate in early morning or late evening meetings occasionally.
  • A passion for making a difference and driving the implementation of the Foundation's vision and strategy.

Its a bonus if you have:

  • Proficiency in Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud, Tableau, SQL, or Databricks is a plus.
    • Familiarity with Atlassian tools like Jira, Confluence, Trello, Atlas, Loom, and others.
