An amazing candidate has a background in information systems, data science, applied statistics, economics or a related quantitative field, strong business instincts, proven data analysis & visualization skills, familiarity with sales processes, significant experience working with CRM systems like salesforce.com , and deep technical abilities. This is a senior role, but you might not have all of these things and still be an amazing candidate.
The Role
In this role you will be the trusted advisor to our Sales Systems and Operations team (SS&O). As Atlassian continues to grow in scale, we are consistently improving the framework of internal systems and processes that our Sales teams use to engage with the market in fulfilling our mission to help unleash the potential of every team . SS&O builds and maintains the framework that Sales uses to help current and future customers understand the value of Atlassian products, and ultimately guide them through the purchasing process. There are a myriad of paths forward in making these improvements and it will be your job to provide analytically based guidance in making strategic & tactical decisions, and to measure outcomes.

  • You will conceive, build, maintain, and manage dashboards to monitor the success of the efforts of the SS&O team.
  • Be a subject matter expert on the SS&O team's data, such as what data is available, which fields are the most reliable and how to connect this data to other key sources.
  • Dig into a variety of large data sets to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities to move business forward.
  • Provide what-if data models and ad hoc analyses to evaluate system & process changes as well as other possible tactical and strategic shifts.
  • Be comfortable working with individual Sales team members to understand current challenges, verify assumptions, and discuss possible solutions.
  • Contribute slides to translate your data visualizations into actual business recommendations for consumption by an executive-level audience, and consult with them on next steps.
  • Consult with data engineers on our scalable data infrastructure for analytics.
  • Leverage data architecture diagrams and documentation to transform and merge data in the raw database layer into more consumable tables for your stakeholders and the reporting they leverage.
  • Use data visualization, statistics, and storytelling to effectively answer open-ended and sometimes vague business questions.
  • Regularly mentor and lead other analysts on challenging projects, as well as sharing your knowledge to help develop your team members.

  • 5+ years experience in an analytics field.
  • You are able to act as a data interpreter between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, being able to tell a story with data.
  • You are proficient in SQL and are comfortable creating tables and small data pipelines.
  • You have a strong technical background in data visualization tools like Tableau, you know statistics, and data instrumentation.
  • You might have certifications in salesforce.com , or have done significant reporting work in SFDC.
  • You independently navigate through complexity and ambiguity.
  • You are able to see a business problem that needs a technical solution, and are excited to solve it just because it needs to be solved.
  • When presented with a challenge, you can present multiple solution options to senior leaders and explore the possible outcomes.
  • You are able to balance organization and documentation of your work with the variable urgency of requests and feeling comfortable with the trade-offs that will have to be made in certain situations.

Preferred Experience

  • B2B, channel sales, marketing, deal desk, customer lifecycle.
  • Technical skills in ETL processes, R/Python.
  • What it's like working for a software company.
  • You know how data sciences concepts like algorithm training, logistic regression, and outlier detection fit into analytics solutions.
  • Distributed computing concepts (Hive/Hadoop) and how that impacts solution designs.
  • Complexity and steps required to go from identifying a business problem to deploying a systems solution.
  • Dabbled in some data sciences because it was interesting.
