Resource Innovations is seeking an Assistant Controller in Illinois to join our growing team. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Controller with a strong background in Accounting and Financial Reporting to join our dynamic team. The Assistant Controller will be working closely with the Corporate Controller, Accounting Manager, and other members of the accounting team, focusing on operational accounting functions. This individual will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting activities, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management, while ensuring the timely and accurate completion of month-end close processes. They will mentor junior accounting staff, ensuring the team adheres to high standards of financial accuracy and efficiency. As a key point of contact for the operational side of accounting, this role will also involve coordination and assistance with various internal teams to ensure requirements are met.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparing and reviewing financial statements,
- Ensuring compliance with GAAP/IFRS and other regulatory standards,
- Supporting internal controls,
- Ensure all proper documentation is in place
- Assisting with the annual audit process.
- Analyze financial data to support management decision-making,
- Monitor accounting operations to ensure smooth processes, and
- Identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Tax compliance support, including ensuring the timely filing of corporate taxes.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Location: Must be located in or willing to relocate the greater Chicagoland, IL area within 30 days of acceptance.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA required, Big 4 preferred).
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in accounting, with a focus on financial statement preparation and review, account reconciliation preparation and review, accounting process, internal controls, and assurance work.
- Leadership: Strong leadership experience, with a proven ability to manage teams, and guide candidates for growth with minimal training.
- Interest in sustainability: Passionate about making a meaningful impact on the environment.
Preferred skills, education and experience
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS).
- Software Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (Oracle preferred), advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, macros, data analysis).
- Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Highly detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
