About Monte Carlo

As businesses increasingly rely on data to power digital products and drive better decision-making, it’s mission-critical that this data is accurate and reliable. Monte Carlo, the data reliability company, is the creator of the industry's first end-to-end Data Observability platform. Named an Inc. Best Workplace for 2024, a DBTA Readers Choice for Best Data Observability Solution for 2024, a G2 Best Product for 2023, and the "New Relic for data" by Forbes, we've raised $236M from Accel, ICONIQ Growth, GGV Capital, Redpoint Ventures, IVP, and Salesforce Ventures. Monte Carlo works with data-driven companies like Fox, Pepsico, Amazon, American Airlines, and other leading enterprises to help them achieve trust in data.

About the role:

Monte Carlo is growing its Sales Engineering team to accelerate our rapid growth. As a Strategic Sales Engineer, you will be a key member of the Monte Carlo sales engine and will be responsible for providing excellent technical guidance and support to the sales team. This includes delivering demos and successful evaluation processes, planning production rollouts, positioning the platform to technical and non-technical stakeholders and executives, providing technical solutions, advocating cross-functionally for the customer’s needs, and creating content to scale your work.

This will be a remote role located in the US in the Central Time Zone

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Evangelizing a category with enormous potential. You’ll be an early member of the go-to-market team changing the data industry.

  • Owning a high degree of appetite for ambiguity. It's a startup environment. We don’t have a lot of answers; you will need to go find them

  • Being part of a high-performing team. We hold ourselves to a high bar and set ambitious goals

  • Traveling to customer sites up to 25% of the time

We’re excited about you because you have:

  • 5+ years of experience in Sales, Sales Engineering, or Customer Success for a technical product.

  • Previous experience working with data products/solutions is highly preferred.

  • Demonstrated track record in an early-stage company or highly ambiguous environment

  • High degree of ownership. A relentless desire to solve customer problems and chase down answers

  • Business acumen to drill into the value a solution such as Monte Carlo brings to our customers

  • Technical acumen to understand and explain complex data architecture

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work with different salespeople, and support other SEs where needed

Firm understanding/experience of at least some of the following: cloud data warehousing, data lakes, ETL concepts and workflows, BI solutions, and SQL

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
