Sr. Manager, Capacity and Capital Planning

Group Summary:
The Magna Exteriors portfolio of products includes access systems such as liftgates, exterior trim, modular systems, front-end modules including fascia, active aerodynamic systems and other lightweight structural components for automotive, commercial truck and other industrial markets.

Job Responsibilities:
The Sr. Manager, Capacity and Capital Planning is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning and management of the company's production capacity and capital investments. This role involves analyzing current production capabilities, forecasting future needs, and developing plans to ensure that the company can meet its production goals efficiently and cost-effectively. The manager will work closely with divisions and various departments, including operations, finance, sales, business development, and supply chain, to align capacity and capital planning with the overall business strategy.
Capacity Planning
- Establish standards for measuring and planning operating capacity
- Analyze production capacity and identify issues and potential bottlenecks
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize production capacity
- Forecast capacity requirements based on sales projections and market trends
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure alignment of capacity plans with operational capabilities
Capital Planning
- Manage a database of core assets
- Assess the need for capital investments in equipment, facilities, and technology (includes make/buy direction and decision making on renovation/replacement of assets)
- Participate in major quotes requiring significant investment
- Develop and oversee business cases for non-program capital projects, including cost-benefit analysis and ROI calculations
- Manage the capital budgeting, forecasting & approval process, ensuring alignment with strategic goals
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Analyze data related to production capacity, equipment utilization, and capital expenditures
- Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key findings and recommendations
- Use advanced analytical tools and techniques to support decision-making processes
Strategic Planning
- Participate in the development of strategic plans
- Provide input on capacity and capital planning considerations in strategic discussions
Risk Management
- Identify risks related to capacity and capital planning and develop mitigation strategies
- Monitor industry trends and market conditions to anticipate changes that could impact capacity and capital planning

Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information effectively to various stakeholders
- Ability to collaborate across functions, including finance, operations, business development, supply chain, and other departments to ensure cohesive planning and execution
- Knowledge of financial modeling and capital budgeting processes
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and production planning
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the automotive parts manufacturing industry.
- Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) or supply chain management (e.g., APICS) is an asset
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is preferred

Education/Special Knowledge -Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or a related field
Experience - Minimum of 5 years of experience in capacity planning, capital planning, or a related field within the automotive industry. Ideally experience in a manufacturing plant.
Physical Demands/Work Environment - Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer, may require local, domestic and international travel to visit plants.
