Senior Software Development Engineer, CI/CD - Provo

 

Why We Have This Role

 

On the CI/CD team, we enable and empower joyful developer experiences in building and deploying software. The team is composed of passionate engineers who are working on infrastructure and tooling that make the Qualtrics software development lifecycle as easy as possible. Our customer base is composed of 1,000+ Qualtrics engineers that are distributed around the globe. This role will play a crucial role by:

  • Mentoring team members.
  • Contributing to the vision for the team.
  • Designing patterns and systems of scalable software delivery.
  • Leading more complex team projects.

 

How You’ll Find Success

  • As an Engineer in Software Engineering on the CI/CD team you will build simple solutions that solve hard tooling, process, and scalability problems.. This is not an ivory tower team: we get down in the trenches of build and deployment with our developers to ensure we truly understand the different challenges they are facing. With that experience and knowledge, you will train and socialize standardized processes that accelerate software delivery across Engineering. You will succeed by:

    • Designing and implementing  well-crafted, scalable, and maintainable code.
    • Building simple solutions to complex problems.
    • Using data and metrics to drive decision making, be able to influence and lead others.
    • Creating effective working relationships both within and outside the team and across departments (Security, TPM, and more).
    • Owning the quality and testing lifecycle.

Things You’ll Do

  • Design and develop comprehensive CI and CD frameworks, libraries, tools, and processes aimed at improving the Developer Experience from coding to production.
  • Secure Qualtrics software supply chain, ensuring all software passing through our build process meets the highest levels of software security.
  • Operate code, build, release and deployment platforms like Spinnaker, Gitlab, Artifactory, and Jenkins.
  • Build solutions to enable cutting edge technologies such as Kubernetes in a hybrid cloud environment.
  • Work closely with, and incorporate feedback from other engineers and product managers
  • Promote Developer Experience best practices through tech talks, workshops, training, and documentation, helping to elevate the skills and methodologies used by developers across the company.

 

What We’re Looking For On Your Resume

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience developing and operating large-scale software systems
  • Experience with Systems Engineering, Infrastructure management and DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience with container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes, Helm, and Kustomize
  • Experience with build or deployment tools like Gitlab, Github, Jenkins, TravisCI, Spinnaker, Maven, and others
  • Experience with software engineering best practices (e.g. unit testing, code reviews, design documents, architecture reviews, root cause analysis)
  • Passionate about working with developers and improving their experience and velocity
  • A mentality of 'Automate everything!'
  • A team player and fast learner, with a focus on driving results through systematic and consistent focus.
  • Experience working in FedRAMP certified environments is a bonus
  • US Citizenship is required for this position

As an Engineer in Software Engineering on the CI/CD team you will build simple solutions that solve hard tooling, process, and scalability problems. You will drive platform development from roadmap planning through engineering execution to production operations. Qualtrics strives for excellence in the operation and delivery of our services.   • You will ensure our platform exceeds goals for availability, capacity, efficiency, scalability, and performance
  • You will dedicatedly monitor end-to-end system performance to identify bottlenecks, potential failures and deliver service capacity planning and demand forecasting.
  • You will communicate w/ engineers & partners and describe problems succinctly to enable issue management
