GENERAL ROLE DESCRIPTION 

Reporting to the Executive Vice President, this role within the Digital Product Team will play a pivotal role in the growth of Wild Alaskan’s business by contributing to the process development and execution of product design, collaborating closely with the Digital Product, Engineering and Creative teams. You will partner cross-functionally with technical and nontechnical stakeholders and understand how your designs impact the member’s experience, the business and internal workflows. You are a skilled UX designer and hacker at heart who is constantly learning, improving and unlocking solutions creatively. You have the ability to thrive in ambiguity and are adept at pivoting when priorities shift.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Help build  and continuously improve a product design process that’s highly collaborative and inclusive through your experience of various strategic tools: from user research to virtual white-boarding sessions to fully-equipped prototypes and everything in between
  • Bring design from start to launch through conducting user interviews, using design software and prototyping tools
  • Help lead a user research process that’s appropriately tailored to the complexity of the corresponding initiative
  • Lead collaborative design sessions with stakeholders to help inform the ultimate design direction
  • Work closely with product, brand, creative, performance marketing, growth & lifecycle, product, data science & analytics and engineering teams to suss out quick-win UX improvements across all flows and experiences, purchase and engagement funnels
  • Create wireframes, high-fidelity comps and prototypes that reflect product requirements and meet the user’s needs
  • Be a proactive collaborator who listens to team ideas, offering their own and uses their design thinking expertise to help guide a group towards multiple solutions
  • Develop and maintain design component library and UX copy guidelines, adhering the company to standards for a consistent user experience
  • Collaborate closely with engineering to deliver designs that are consistently executable and scalable
  • Stay up to date with the newest technologies and methodologies, and seize opportunities to advance the product design stack + frameworks in order to improve the product design process
  • Stay up to date with broader brand and creative strategies and find opportunities to Invite collaboration into the digital product design process
  • Evangelize design thinking across the organization
  • Attend the product weekly and contribute to the continuous improvement around how the product team operates
  • Ensure all user journeys remain cohesive and delightful
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Hands-on product design experience
  • Significant experience working with product design teams
  • Hands-on user research experience
  • 7+ years of hands-on UI and UX experience
  • Ability to make design accessible to non-designers
  • Can quickly adapt to and apply feedback
  • Excellent verbal and visual communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects 
  • Ability to juggle multiple initiatives at once
  • Open-minded, empathetic and flexible to different styles of working
  • Excited to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Well-versed in design tools like Figma

NICE TO HAVES:

  • Experience with AI prototyping
  • eCommerce design experience
  • High-degree of comfort with A/B testing platforms
  • Passion for sustainability
  • Experience with Asana
  • Familiarity with landing page software, like Webflow

The starting salary range for this position is $125,000 - $150,000/yr, USD, annual base salary plus performance based compensation, commensurate with skills and experience. Wild Alaskan’s benefits package includes health, vision, and dental insurance, 401k, PTO, safe/sick time, vacation, parental leave and more, as well as a delicious box of free fish every month.
