Position Summary:
The Senior Director, Commercial Communications is responsible for leading and executing the company’s commercial and pipeline communications strategy. This role plays a critical function in developing and delivering compelling external communications that support commercial objectives, product positioning, market shaping, and brand reputation. The position will oversee commercial and pipeline communications strategy and execution, including messaging and materials development, media strategy, digital content, and thought leadership initiatives while closely collaborating with cross-functional teams, including partners in communications, investor relations, commercial, medical affairs, government affairs and patient advocacy.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute a commercial and pipeline communications strategy that aligns with corporate goals, integrates product messaging, and enhances brand positioning.
• Lead external communications efforts related to data and regulatory milestones, product launches, market development, and commercialization initiatives, ensuring brand messaging consistency across all channels and cross-functional teams.
• Oversee commercial / product media relations strategy closely partnering with corporate communications lead to drive positive coverage for commercial and clinical milestones, product awareness, and executive thought leadership in key business and healthcare media outlets.
• Work closely with the commercial, marketing and medical teams to create impactful product narratives, messaging frameworks, and go-to-market communications strategies.
• Drive digital and social media engagement strategies to increase awareness and credibility of commercialized and pipeline products.
• Mitigate and manage issues related to commercial and product-related matters.
• Lead the development of product communication materials such as press releases, FAQs, product messaging guides, thought leadership content, and digital assets.
• Manage public relations agencies and other external vendors to optimize communication efforts, ensuring alignment with corporate messaging and business priorities.
• Track, measure, and report on the effectiveness of commercial communications initiatives using data-driven insights.
• Partner closely with commercial, corporate communications, investor relations, medical affairs, patient advocacy, and government affairs teams to align messaging across key stakeholders.

Education/Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field. Equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered.
• 12+ years of experience in corporate communications, commercial communications, or public relations within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry.
• Strong background in product and commercial communications, including experience supporting product launches, market shaping, and brand storytelling.

Additional Skills/Experience/Requirements:

• Strategic thinker with a proven track record in developing and executing successful commercial communications strategies.
• Exceptional storytelling and messaging development skills with the ability to translate complex scientific and commercial information into compelling narratives.
• Proven leadership in media relations, including working directly with top-tier business and healthcare reporters.
• Strong collaboration and cross-functional partnership skills to work effectively with commercial, marketing, medical affairs, and corporate affairs teams.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, prioritizing tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
• Proficiency in digital and social media engagement strategies to drive brand awareness and thought leadership.
• Experience managing agencies and vendor relationships, ensuring efficiency and alignment with corporate objectives.
• Ability to travel up to 15-20% domestically and internationally, as needed.

Compensation: Our competitive compensation package includes a combination of both cash compensation (base pay and short-term incentive) and long-term incentive compensation (company stock), designed to recognize, retain, and reward employees.

Target Base Pay Range:

$215,000.00 - $280,000.00
