Who are we looking for?

Choice Hotels, one of the world’s largest lodging franchisors, has an exciting new opportunity as our Regional Vice President, Franchise Sales Development - Upscale on the Franchise Sales Upscale team. This team is responsible for meeting and exceeding growth goals through sourcing new construction projects, the conversion of existing hotels, adaptive reuse of unique and historic buildings, for the upscale brand, Cambria Hotels, and the upper upscale brands, Radisson, and Radisson Blu Hotels. As a key member of this team, you will contribute to the development and growth of the Market Area Strategic Business Plan and execute against the plan by calling on prospective franchisees, developing relationships and networking with developers, third-party management companies, lenders, brokers, and industry groups, etc. within the geographical market area of the northeast – ME, NH, VT, MA, RI, CT, NJ, NY, MD, DE, VA.

Responsibilities and Duties

SALES EXECUTION

  • Provide input on the development of the Market Area Strategic Business Plan.  Execute against the Business Plan and build a pipeline of prospective franchisees to meet or exceed set goals/quotas for conversions, new construction, and adaptive reuse projects of hotels.
  • Communicate and manage internal relations with Area Directors and other internal associates to foster growth opportunities for the assigned brand and Choice Hotels overall.
  • Manage the contract/approval process and collaborate with Franchise Administration and other internal resources to ensure timely information flow and application processing.
  • Assist franchisees with identifying financial programs, site selection, or partnership dollars.
  • Collaborates with Franchise Services to effectively upgrade/replace existing inventory in accordance with the Market Area.
  • Plan and to ensure brand identity compliance.
  • Work and collaborate with the brand leaders and operations team to improve the quality of the deals brought into the pipeline as well as the overall performance of the brand.

INDUSTRY/MARKET STRATEGY & ACTIVITIES

  • Perform competitive and SWOT analyses of assigned Market Area.
  • Stay relevant with industry developments and market trends, while continuing to collaborate with your leader on adjustments to the Business Plan.
  • Build relationships in the Finance, Construction, Hotel Development, and other related communities in the assigned Market Area.
  • Actively participate in professional and industry groups that are recognized both internally with Choice Hotels and externally in the marketplace.
  • Represent Choice Hotels at franchise-related events, trade shows, etc.

Work Location

As our Regional Vice President, Franchise Sales – Upscale you will be a remote-based associate, working from your home office. You will be required to connect virtually with Choice team members and leadership on video via Zoom, with possible periodic travel in-person to our beautiful, state-of-the-art worldwide offices in Rockville, MD, Scottsdale, AZ, or St. Louis Park, MN. Frequent nationwide travel will be required 75% of the time to represent Choice Hotels at franchise-related events, trade shows, conventions, and franchisee visits, etc.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field; or a high school diploma and equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of successful franchise sales and/or hotel development/real estate transactions.  
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time.
  • Must live within or be willing to relocate to the geographic market area.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience using CRM applications is desirable.
  • Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding goals/quotas, driving business results, and broad-based business acumen and ability to collaborate with business leaders across organizational lines.

Salary Range

Earnings potential for this role is up to or above $430,000 in total cash compensation. This includes both sales commission and annual base salary for the role. Sales commissions are variable based on performance.

The pay range listed is for this position and is what Choice Hotels reasonably expects to pay. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
