Enterprise Technology owns Blue Origin's product and software development and codifies operational processes and methodologies into intelligent products that enable the design, planning, manufacturing, launch, and maintenance of our rockets. Enterprise Technology's UX designers enable these products by researching our internal customers’ needs, and crafting solutions into professional user experiences.

We’re looking for a Principal UX Designer to define and raise the bar for design standards across Blue Origin's software portfolio. You will be responsible for designs and customer research that impact our end-to-end mission lifecycle, from supply chain and manufacturing to test and flight operations. You will partner with executives and product leaders to set the vision for our next generation product suite, and lead the execution of that vision. You'll form a community of practice across our design team and help elevate their quality and output.

To succeed in this role, you must be an innovative self-starter, a strategic big-picture thinker, and a dedicated collaborator. UX designers serve to help define and visualize problems to solve, as well as working with partners to guide discovery and design solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with business partners, product, and engineering leads to scope, strategize and model solutions to a variety of business challenges
  • Present design visions and deliverables to executive stakeholders, and influence overall product and company strategy
  • Conduct and synthesize research into Journey maps, persona development and task flow models
  • Lead peer design critiques and develop community of practice
  • Rapidly prototype design solutions with customers and integrate AI into design workflows
  • Nurture effective partnerships with Software Engineering, Product Management and Business Engagement leaders to deliver world-class software solutions
  • Incorporate user feedback to continuously iterate and improve upon existing solutions

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of applied experience creating software design solutions, enterprise software experience or internal operations tooling experience is a plus
  • Fluent in design thinking methodologies, able to focus a team on goals, and both strategic and tactical solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills-able to clearly present design logic
  • A demonstrated history of becoming an expert in an unfamiliar domain
  • Intense curiosity for understanding the details of our business and how to continuously improve it
  • A high level of initiative to overcome obstacles and drive towards action
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion 
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.  


 

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $192,086.00-$268,919.70

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification, Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
