The Role

Three years later in 2019, we brought Hiya Connect to market, a B2B branded SaaS solution that enables companies to connect to the consumers they are trying to reach. The combination of Protect, Connect, and the Hiya app has resulted in the world’s largest Voice Security Platform with over 450M users.

The Engineering Manager is a leadership position responsible for managing an engineering team for Hiya’s Connect product. While the Connect Product team is Seattle based, the engineering team is distributed (Seattle and Budapest) and collaborates with other engineering teams in both time zones.

We’re excited about you because you’re the kind of person with a deep understanding of product needs, who can distinguish between core requirements and implementation advice. A deliberate communicator, making effective use of both synchronous and asynchronous communication channels, fostering alignment between stakeholders and execution. Understanding software architecture from the cloud platform layer through data storage, stream and batch processing, all the way to high performance low-latency services on the JVM, implemented in Scala.

  • Understanding customer needs first and providing solutions primarily based on that.
  • A philosophy of iteration and continuous improvement.
  • BSc or M.S in a relevant field; 6+ years relevant work experience.
  • Excellent communication and self-organization skills incl. working within and with other remote teams.
  • Experience in getting team members aligned, resolving potential conflicts.
  • Proficient at collaborating and communicating with both local and remote team members in English

  • JVM languages, especially Scala
  • Cloud environments (AWS, Kubernetes)

The base compensation for this role is between $170,700 to $237,800. When determining compensation, a number of factors will be considered: skills, experience, job scope, location, and competitive compensation market data.
