BillionToOne is looking for a Director of Market Access to provide leadership, strategic direction, and overall management of payer relations to meet the Company's reimbursement objectives. Reporting to the VP of Market Access, the  Director of Market Access will be responsible for leading and implementing both strategic and tactical reimbursement activities within the areas of coverage, contracting, and payment. The role involves interaction with payers, physicians, sales, marketing, regulatory, product, medical affairs, and other applicable company personnel to secure contracts for BillionToOne tests. In addition, the person will serve as a liaison between customer and company personnel on administrative matters, including but not limited to the resolution of contracted payer issues. Typically involved with senior management and/or multiple decision-makers with payers, arranging interactions with appropriate medical affairs, technical, financial, and management personnel at the Company as necessary.

Demonstrates thorough knowledge of the contracting process, established guidelines, contract management, policy development, and fee schedules.  Works directly with private and government payers, lab benefits managers, and medical technology groups. Provides ongoing feedback and support to the VP of Market Access on process improvements and necessary updates to overall policy development and contracting.  

Assists and supports the VP of Market Access in all activities related to developing Market Access targets, strategy, tactics, annual business goals, tools, and presentations. Provides support for the marketing team with developing sales collateral and other payer-related marketing activities. Collaborates with product and clinical teams to help design and execute clinical programs to support the development of strong economic value propositions. Works with reimbursement and appeals teams to facilitate policy development and contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates the management of key business relationships with assigned national and regional payors.
  • Responsible for developing strong payer relationships at an executive level and negotiating potential business opportunities for the Company consistent with its long-term strategy.
  • Responsible for gaining new contracts, including negotiating pricing and contract terms, and then driving all associated activity to implement the strategy related to those contracts.
  • Develop business plans for each account assigned; monitor and report progress monthly and develop and implement tactics to exceed sales and company goals.

 Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in science, business, or healthcare-related field is required.
  • 3-5 years experience in Market Access with a proven track record of success with special projects and complex selling scenarios, including adoption and reimbursement of disruptive innovation or transformative products or services, reversals of threatened contract terminations, consistent increase in negotiated rates, and contracting for previously excluded services.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience developing and executing strategic plans to obtain optimal payer coverage/policies and reimbursement for prenatal/oncology tests.
  • Self-driven, passionate, innovative, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to build cross-functional teams that share information and achieve positive results.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects that are highly complex in nature and broad in scope.
  • Competent in computer skills. Familiar with Microsoft Office programs such as Access, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • High level of intensity, enthusiasm, and professionalism

At BillionToOne, we are proud to offer a combination of a (1) base pay range (actual amount offered is based on experience and salary/equity options split that the candidate chooses), (2) generous equity options offering, (3) corporate bonus program, on top of (4) industry leading company benefits (free healthcare options, 401k match, very generous fully paid parental leave, etc.).

For this position, we offer a total compensation package of up to $380,000 per year, including a base pay range of $204,000-$229,500 per year.
