Manager, Logging, Metrics & Monitoring

Manager responsibilities

  • Proven track record of providing technical direction, contributing to architectural discussions, and overseeing implementation details.
  • Meet and collaborate with senior leadership across different time zones to set strategic direction and communicate progress
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate business needs into clearly defined projects, taking a hands-on approach to guide solution design and implementation.
  • Cultivate and manage engineering excellence by enhancing the skills of team members and supporting their career growth.
  • Facilitate scrum ceremonies, daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and backlog reviews.

Engineering Responsibilities

  • Automate the deployment and configuration of logging, metric and monitoring infrastructure using tools such as Terraform & Puppet.
  • Assist in resolving production incidents utilizing your Linux administration and engineering skills.
  • Create metrics dashboards and establish alert criteria to effectively monitor and scale our services
  • Assist development teams in refining their logging and metrics collection processes.

Typical Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing distributed engineering teams and delivering reliable, performant and secure platforms and services
  • 5 years of professional experience working and supporting a linux environment
  • 3 or more years of experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible
  • Hands-On experience with relevant technologies, including Fluentd, Kafka, OpenSearch, Graphite, ClickHouse, , Prometheus, Grafana, Graylog,
  • Experience with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Docker, Jenkins,
  • Proficient in scripting using programming languages, such as Bash, Ruby, Python, or Golang.
  • Ability to develop deployment templates for services in public cloud environments using AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Experience managing and supporting large server fleets in a production environment (several thousand).
