The salary range for this role, based in Texas is $267,680.00 to $334,600.00. The range will vary if outside of this location. Base salaries are determined during our interview process, by assessing a candidate’s experience, skills against internal peers and against the scope and responsibilities of the position.
Job Summary:
At Pernod Ricard USA, we have accelerated and transformed our organization around experiences of conviviality, placing the consumer at the heart of our business model. The Managing Director will lead the creation, delivery, and performance management of an alternative Route to Market (RTM) strategy for a portfolio of under-prioritized spirits brands, specifically within the ‘Targeted Elevate’ and ‘Execute’ segments. This role will have the opportunity to shape a high-impact team, driving talent development and rotational opportunities within PRUSA.
This position reports directly to the Chief Commercial Officer of PR USA. The scope of this role includes full establishment and overseeing of alternative spirits portfolio, known as The Gem Portfolio, which currently generates $120M in NNS, with a goal of doubling to $250M by the end of FY27. Once fully operational, this portfolio will manage approximately 10 distribution partners across open, control and franchise states with a high degree of complexity.
The role is highly complex, requiring collaboration across multiple distributors and product categories while effectively navigating the PRUSA organization and broader ecosystem. Additionally, the General Manager will play a key role in marketing and finance, with marketing resources reporting directly into the role and finance/S&OP resources being used by the main PRUSA organization. The team size could reach 15-20 employees depending on the distributor network chosen.
Success in this role requires strong relationship-building skills, as the General Manager will engage with distributor partners at the C-suite and ownership levels. The ideal candidate must possess the gravitas and ability to balance strategic influence with both soft and firm negotiation skills.
What You’ll Do:
RTM Strategy Development & Execution:

Lead the development and execution of an important alternative RTM strategy for 20+ spirits brands, including the ‘Targeted Elevate’ and ‘Execute’ segments.

Drive a focused refresh for brands that have been under-prioritized, ensuring that they gain the necessary attention and support to maximize their potential.

Fully manage the senior level relationships across the distribution network, engaging them in regular business reviews and performance cadences.

Create key contractual principles to form the basis of the way of working with PRUSA distributor network.
Revenue Growth & Market Expansion:

Manage a portfolio of brands that currently contribute 10% to PRUSA's NNS, with the goal to unlock significantly larger growth potential through better focus and distributor engagement.
Distributor & Channel Relationships:
-
Developing and executing the RTM strategy to expand the reach and elevate the status of the GEM portfolio.

Collaborate with distributor network to ensure brand performance and adherence to contractual principles.
Retailer Engagement & Chain Execution:
-
Improve execution of ‘Targeted Elevate’ and ‘Execute’ brands at the chain level by building stronger retailer relationships.

Increase PRUSA's scale with retailers through a broader portfolio and enhanced category partnerships.

Develop new execution methods with distributors, embracing their technologies, POS needs, promotional programming, and incentives.
Team Leadership, Coaching, and Development:

Lead the creation of talent rotation opportunities and career development for PRUSA team members, fostering a culture of growth and performance excellence.

Ensure the team is equipped with the tools and training necessary to execute the RTM strategy effectively and deliver outstanding results.

Drive corporate culture of inclusivity, high accountability, and high performance across team.

Set consistent performance standards to drive beating the market and promote the consistent use of management dashboards to drive business decisions and monitor compliance / progress against goals.

Increase performance impact through clear, strategically aligned objectives and key results (OKRs). Ensure OKRs are meaningfully and effectively prioritized and cascaded throughout the team.

Be a high contributing member of the Commercial Leadership Team bringing effective communication skills and a positive mindset to leadership meetings.

Required Qualifications:
Industry-Specific Knowledge:

15+ years in the spirits or alcohol industry.

Deep understanding of distribution networks, RTM strategies, and brand portfolio management in the U.S. beverage alcohol market.
Leadership & Strategy:

8+ years in senior leadership roles (e.g., VP or GM) with experience managing a P&L at scale.

Proven track record of developing and executing growth strategies for underperforming brands or categories.
-
Willingness to travel up to 40%.
Distributor & Retailer Relations:
-
Ability to build and maintain high-impact relationships with major distributors (e.g., SGWS, RNDC, Breakthru Beverage) and national retailers.

Experience in influencing distributor engagement and managing complex portfolios.
Market Expansion & Revenue Growth:

Proven success in expanding markets and driving revenue growth.
Team Leadership:

Experience leading high-performance teams, focusing on talent development, rotational opportunities, and fostering a culture of accountability and inclusivity.
