Summary The Principal Advisory Consultant is a senior level CDW resource who uses technical and industry experience to create client value. This role works in collaboration with the sales team to clearly understand client business and technology requirements. Using established solution frameworks, Principal Advisory Consultants provide both pre-sales and billable client consulting. They work with CDW technology teams to craft client solutions and speed time-to-sale by architecting solutions that meet requirements, minimize deployment risk, and enhance client business value. Provide technical and industry leadership to other members for pre-sales and delivery activities. Key Areas of Responsibilities • Participates in Consulting engagements as an individual contributor or technical lead, developing and presenting work products such as assessments, scorecards, workshops, strategies, roadmaps, IT roadmaps, and solution end states in detailed and executive-level formats across multi-discipline engagements • Participates in or leads Consulting complex sales efforts inclusive of customer meetings, whiteboard briefing sessions, discovery sessions, workshops, preparing scope and service estimates for client Statements of Work (SOW) • Leads or participates in Consulting billable engagements. Other billable activities may include leading other consulting engagements as required • Provides guidance and leadership to technical multi-discipline team members, including delegating technical tasks, coaching, and resolving issues • Maintains client relationships as a trusted Advisor. Advises clients at all levels, including executive, management, and individual contributor across multiple disciplines • Possesses recognition within CDW and by customers for expertise in one or more selected industry(ies) and IT discipline(s) that fall within the CDW portfolio through presentations or publications • Achieves a high level of Customer Satisfaction at multiple client levels on all consulting engagements through negotiating and meeting client delivery expectations at all levels of the client, including staff, management, and senior and executive leadership • Develops and delivers research or value-added intellectual collateral to customers and/or CDW in selected industries or technical disciplines • Leads multi-discipline teams and integration efforts across the company in sales and billable engagement efforts • Defines and assigns roles and responsibilities across a multi-discipline engagement, either client-facing or with internal teams • Assists the CDW project manager with risk management during service delivery, ensuring alignment to contractual agreements stated in the SOW. Takes the lead on any risk mitigation within the scope of accountability within the project • Provides technical architecture oversight, design risk mitigation, and/or integration for customer engagements that include multiple integrated practice solutions • Works directly with Client Executives and partners to develop CDW sales opportunities for multi-discipline pursuits • Develops and oversees informal training and guidance on consulting and technical practices to internal and customer teams, including assessments, analysis, planning, and implementation across multiple disciplines • Leads or contributes to consulting practice materials, including standardizing work products, scope and estimates, presentations, delivery guides, and other materials used in presales or delivery activities, including multi-discipline offerings • Leads the development of new multi-discipline offerings or improvement of existing complex offerings • Takes accountability for project delivery for work product quality to the customer and for consulting practice materials and methodology • Demonstrates coaching and mentoring skills • Develops and approves templates and technical writing work products within a discipline and multi-discipline materials • Training/Certifications: Attends training sessions and events and obtains industry-related certifications • Meets billable utilization targets • Complies with all time compliance and time entry guidelines Education and/or Experience Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field • At least fifteen (15) years of Information Technology work experience with one or more solutions in the CDW Consulting services portfolio, including (5) years of experience with large enterprise projects Required Qualifications • Demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of client staff, including boards, C-suite, executives, management, and technical staff across the business and IT • Demonstrated ability to build out and effectively communicate an actionable strategic plan based on a big-picture end-state vision while considering the business context for cross-discipline efforts • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of products, services, and industry to identify and evaluate client needs and recommend the best solutions • Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive expert-level consulting functions across multiple disciplines aligned to the solution portfolio, including holistic strategies and roadmaps, actionable planning, complex analysis, large workshops, large implementations, and strategic recommendations • Demonstrated presentation and communication skills, including effectively communicating one-on-one and in small and large groups, executives, and boards using a variety of presentation methods to sustain the audiences' engagement, including facilitating large, multi-discipline, and executive workshops • Demonstrated advanced listening skills to understand the client's ask and to expand understanding through refined questioning techniques to tailor a complex or cross-discipline solution or resolution to their unique business objectives • Demonstrated ability to deal with complexity and ambiguity • Demonstrated ability to resolve escalated, complex problems that involve multiple IT disciplines, ability to identify the root cause and provide a permanent resolution • Demonstrated skills in facilitating diverse client and vendor technical resource teams to realize a fully integrated IT service solution • Demonstrated ability to lead through challenging conversations with clients and internal teams at all levels • Demonstrated project delivery with less experienced team members, including delegation, issue resolution, quality reviews, and coaching • Demonstrated ability to set sales documentation and proposal development standards • Demonstrated ability to set standards, targets, and measures for products and services based on knowledge of current market trends Preferred Qualifications • More than 15-years of consulting experience • Relevant certifications in area of technical specialty • Demonstrated knowledge of project estimation and scoping experience • Pre-sales technical support experience
