About Pinterest:

Millions of people across the world come to Pinterest to find new ideas every day. It’s where they get inspiration, dream about new possibilities and plan for what matters most. Our mission is to help those people find their inspiration and create a life they love. In your role, you’ll be challenged to take on work that upholds this mission and pushes Pinterest forward. You’ll grow as a person and leader in your field, all the while helping Pinners make their lives better in the positive corner of the internet.

Creating a life you love also means finding a career that celebrates the unique perspectives and experiences that you bring. As you read through the expectations of the position, consider how your skills and experiences may complement the responsibilities of the role. We encourage you to think through your relevant and transferable skills from prior experiences.

Our new progressive work model is called PinFlex, a term that’s uniquely Pinterest to describe our flexible approach to living and working. Visit our PinFlex landing page to learn more.

At Pinterest, Trust & Safety is not just checking a box; it is a critical part of our value prop to users and to advertisers. Users choose to share their dreams with Pinterest because we make them feel safe and supported; Advertisers choose to spend their dollars because they know it’s a safe space for their brands. We’re looking for an experienced, strategic Trust & Safety leader to protect against harmful content on Pinterest. And you’ll do this at the scale of one of the world’s largest user generated content platforms.

What you’ll do:

  • Drive team-level strategy, product roadmap, and day-to-day execution for the Content Safety team  in partnership with your cross-functional leadership team.
  • This includes harms such as Spam, Adult Content, and Child Safety.
  • Serve as a thought leader, drawing on your deep domain and ML expertise - including understanding of user needs and business goals and the evolving ML and LLM landscape.
  • Directly manage half a dozen PMs, and cross functionally lead ~40 people. Mentor the existing team while continuing to add great new talent to the organization.

What we’re looking for:

  • T&S Domain expertise: You’ll need to hit the ground running to drive strategy and execution for protecting against harmful content on one of the world’s largest platforms
  • ML/LLM Domain expertise: You’ll partner closely with ML engineering teams working with a wide variety of ML and LLM technologies, particularly Machine Learning for content safety
  • Trusted collaborator: In this role, you’ll partner closely with technical teams, Ops, Policy, Legal, and more. You’ll need to build deep and trusted relationships with these teams and work together in service of key shared strategic priorities
  • Strategic thinker: You’ll need to understand the landscape in which we’re operating and make frequent tradeoffs and decisions around where to invest time and resources.
  • Skilled communicator: You’ll communicate your strategy and plans to Executive audiences and to the company more broadly, and need the ability to communicate clearly and convincingly with a wide range of audiences
  • Strong people leader: You’ll lead an existing team of talented PMs and will drive recruiting efforts to add more top talent to the team
  • A driver of results: Ultimately, you’ll need to produce significant, measurable results against some of the company’s key goals
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, or equivalent experience

Relocation Statement:

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
