Workday Engineer II - Compensation

Introduction to team

The People Technology Team at Expedia is looking for a Workday Engineer II with a focus on – Compensation to support the Expedia Group Brands. As an engineer, your main responsibility will be defining and implementing Workday Business Processes, Configurations, Integrations, and 3rd party tools with a deep focus on Compensation. You will be part of an integral part of a team dedicated to constantly improving the configuration and customization of Workday to meet Expedia’s global requirements.

This position combines expert-level proficiency in Compensation and working understanding of other Workday areas with the ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with Product Managers/ Technical Product Managers, turning broad business requirements into deliverable business technology tools, primarily in Workday. The role will be responsible for bidirectional integration of the Workday with external tools to support business needs. The individual will also work with multi-functional teams to address system, interface, data, and vendor issues.

In this role, you will:

  • Participate in the design, analysis, development, and deployment efforts for multiple application projects to solve complex global problems and enhancements.

  • Design, document, configure, and implement changes in Workday

  • Collaborating with Developers, Product managers, Technical Product managers and Production Support Engineers to implement technical requirements.

  • Creating runbooks for troubleshooting, recovery, and routine maintenance of in-house developed systems.

  • Collaborate with 3rd party service providers as needed.

Experience and qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in Workday, with focus on Compensation.

  • Must have experience of designing, configuring and implementing Compensation & Advanced Compensation in Workday.

  • Have extensive experience in setting up Compensation plans, hourly, salary, unit salary, commission etc. And expertise in Advanced Compensation – Running Merit, Bonus and Stock cycles.

  • Experience in writing Compensation related reports and dashboards is a must.

  • Demonstrate the configurations through the development of a prototype.

  • Conduct working sessions with stakeholders to gather, understand, and analyze business requirements; leveraging Workday standard methodologies.

  • Experience with Agile and SDLC including Requirements Analysis, Design, Development, Testing, and Deployment. 

  • Good knowledge of HCM and other functional areas within Workday. 

Other skills 

  • Workday Pro certification: Compensation, HCM preferred but not required.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Bachelor's in information science, computer science, business, or equivalent work experience.

  • Understanding of Agile project methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban, required.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
