Job Description
Achieve is looking for an experienced UX Writer to join its Marketing team and join our mission to create more consistent, cohesive, and engaging user experiences across all our digital consumer touchpoints.
Primarily focused on collaborating with Product teams, this person will also work closely with stakeholders in Acquisition, Brand, and Lifecycle to create user experiences that make our digital financial products more accessible and understandable to consumers. To succeed in this role, you must be someone adept at understanding business strategy and user testing insights and use that knowledge to produce high quality writing that reduces friction, simplifies complex concepts, and engages users in order to meet business goals.
Your audience will be everyday people who need financial education, assistance, and help in building a better financial future. Your work will directly help an underserved and stressed population reach financial stability.
Key Responsibilities

  • Write clear and concise copy for all aspects of the digital user experience, from form flows and landing pages to chat messages and product interfaces, across the product development lifecycle.
  • Express the Brand attributes (Sincere, Encouraging, Optimistic, Refreshing, Straightforward, Caring, Knowledgeable) across multiple products and experiences while adhering to design principles, addressing research findings, and delivering on business strategy.
  • Work closely and collaboratively outside of Marketing with product designers, researchers, product managers, and engineers to understand UX project requirements, opportunities, objectives, and challenges.
  • Lead content discussions with partners, presenting your work, explaining your intention, and responding to feedback.
  • Closely monitor creative testing outcomes to infer messaging and copy insights to document and leverage in future projects.
  • Step into the shoes of our target audience to understand their needs and wants, and then balance that perspective with business objectives.
  • Build and sustain close collaboration with fellow Marketing writers in Acquisition and Lifecycle to share messaging insights across all audience segments and enable a more consistent user experience in these digital touchpoints.
  • Maintain UX writing discipline in the organization by adhering to style guides, established workflow process, collaborative guidelines, and best practices for design system components.
  • Manage your content projects through all established workflow systems, taking full accountability for meeting required SLAs and compliance approvals. Clearly communicate status at each checkpoint and involve stakeholders as necessary.
  • Carefully review your own work for correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. Articulate thought process and rationale behind your work to teammates and stakeholders.
  • Provide additional writing support outside of UX, as business priorities require (i.e. Brand, Lifecycle).
  • Act as a subject matter expert and promote the benefits of quality UX writing internally at the company.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional writing experience in UX writing, technical writing, or copywriting
  • BA/BS degree or 4 additional years of relevant experience
  • Online portfolio of consumer centric writing samples and content design, including at least two launched products
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative problem-solving mindset
  • Experience working and collaborating in Figma
  • Experience collaborating with designers, engineers, and product managers

Specializations to make you stand out

  • Experience creating and maintaining style guides to follow Product and Brand guidelines
  • Experience with Asana, Confluence, and Jira
  • UX certification
  • Experience writing beyond UX, to deliver on Brand, Marketing, Acquisition, and/or Lifecycle business goals
  • Experience writing for a design system
  • Experience writing for digital products across a multi-product strategy
  • Experience simplifying financial services concepts for non-finance savvy customers

If you have other UX experience that you think translates to this role well, we'd love to see it.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
