Working at Atlassian
Atlassians can choose where they work - whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.
Your future team
Atlassian is searching for a UX Researcher to join our growing team of research experts. Atlassian's mission is to unleash the potential of teams all over the world. You will define and conduct research that not only informs our ultimate mission, but feeds the design, strategy and development of our products and platforms. You will join a smart, passionate team who work together to improve our research craft and help Atlassian build better experiences for our customers.
What you'll do

  • Report to a Research Manager and conduct generative and evaluative research to help improve our products and platforms.
  • Partner with teams such as product management, design, marketing, data science, and engineering to influence product and platform design decisions and direction.
  • Collaborate with other research specialities to bring depth to your insights.
  • Communicate research insights in credible, creative ways to help teams understand the needs of our customers.
  • Promote the research craft and develop our research practices across Atlassian.

Your background

  • You will bring 2+ years hands-on experience designing and conducting user research. We would love to hear stories of how your research influenced product or platform roadmaps and informed design decisions.
  • You will have experience with qualitative (and some quantitative) research methods, along with knowledge of when, why, and how to apply them. We value your ability to be creative when thinking about the research problem you're trying to solve.
  • You will be proficient in data management, data analysis, and insights generation. We will look for engaging techniques for sharing research recommendations and the ability to bring teams along on the research journey.

Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $130,500 - $174,000

This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
