Job Description Summary:
Fenwick is seeking a temporary Competitive Intelligence Analyst who will provide in-depth research and analysis to business development professionals and attorneys. The candidate will work in partnership with the knowledge & innovation, marketing, and finance teams to deliver actionable intelligence on clients, prospects, and competitors. The ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment is necessary. This position can be based in any of our U.S. office locations and some remote locations.
Job Description:
- Conduct in-dept research on companies and industries, analyzing data and distilling results into tailored, concise, and actionable reports for attorneys and business development professionals.
- Create briefing documents for client planning meetings and proposal efforts including summary of business and legal issues, past and present legal representation, relevant news, and executive biographies.
- Provide materials for and conduct analyses related to client events, newsletters, client alerts, internal communications, cross-selling initiatives, sponsorships, experience management, and other marketing activities.
- Monitor and communicate business and legal issues relevant to appropriate client team members and practice area members.
- Create data-driven dashboards and other interactive visuals to allow end users to understand and utilize information effectively.
- Evaluate sources of competitive intelligence information and new products/tools for use in intelligence research in conjunction with the firm.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed and work demands.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Superior skills with legal and business reference and research tools, including S&P Capital IQ, PitchBook, DealPoint Data, FactSet, Monitor Suite, Westlaw, Lexis, Leopard Solutions, and Manzama.
- Proven proficiency in Power BI.
- Superior skills with Microsoft Office, especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Strong writing skills and an ability to write for a variety of audiences.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task and work under deadline pressure.
- Willingness to explore new ways of providing information to users.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships; Impeccable written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with all levels of firm personnel.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Competitive Intelligence, the qualified candidate will have 5+ years’ experience working in a legal environment. Business development experience preferred. Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or JD preferred.

The anticipated range for this position is:
$94,000 - $141,250
Depending on the role, the actual base salary offered may depend upon a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
A discretionary bonus for eligible employees may also be available based on performance. Additional information about employee eligibility for benefits and discretionary bonus will be made available upon request.
