The Technical Architect will oversee solution integrity, create system architecture, mentor staff, manage deployments, and ensure effective client engagement on CPQ projects.
As a Technical Architect, you will own the integrity and strength of the solutions recommended and delivered. You’ll be acting as a trusted advisor to our team and clients, and an effective mentor for other Zaelab professionals working alongside you. You’ll be a go-to expert with deep platform expertise, as well as excellent consulting skills to communicate your ideas and solutions to clients; gaining buy-in to get your visions built into successful solutions.
Your Responsibilities
- Conduct research into clients’ use of existing CPQ solutions, such as Salesforce CPQ, producing a report of findings with recommended steps and a roadmap for solutions
- Define and maintain system architecture, including data model, integrations architecture, tailoring client specific needs to fit project requirements
- Collaborate with colleagues and customers to create prototypes and proofs of concept as a means of eliciting and defining requirements
- Review solutions and recommending improvements
- Groom and refine the product backlog, in liaison with stakeholders on the project,
- Own the design of and (optionally) other affiliated solutions for Sales, Service, and platform solutions
- Act as a release manager, approving configuration and coded items to be deployed between environments. Where appropriate, this could include deploying changes
- Provide guidance on user story writing style
- Ensure success and acceptance criteria are defined for each story
- Describe and illustrate designs with appropriate justifications
- Ensure documentation of the steps for testing
- Define proposed solution architecture concept during pre-sales project planning process working with the client as well as internal sales and services/delivery teams. Advise potential clients on technology choices, platform selection and integration solutions
- Supervise the configuration, quality assurance, testing, and deployment
- Collaborative project and workstream planning
- Bachelor’s / Postgraduate degree or professional qualification in Business, Computer Science, Marketing, Finance or a similar field of study
- At least 5 years’ experience in a leading role in delivering CPQ projects, as well as 5+ years in a technical role such as Salesforce Developer, Frontend Engineer or Fullstack Engineer
- Hands-on implementation experience with Salesforce CPQ and/or Oracle CPQ
- Hands-on experience with CSS, Javascript Libraries like React, Apex, Building and Integrating with APIs
- Nice to have CAD, 3D, WebGL, Three.js or React experience
- Excellent communication skills, written, verbal, and interactive when online,

- Available and responsive to question, clarifications and instructions
- Ability to tailor communication to multiple audiences at all levels
- A self-starter, experienced in leading projects or delivery work streams
- Outstanding written communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate concepts visually and in writing in a way that enables stakeholders to decide with confidence
- A strategic approach to solution design, with proven ability to develop and execute tactical plans to support the strategy
- Excellent ability to coach, motivate and direct work tasks to a multi-disciplinary team of professionals
