Current Need

We are recruiting for a Technical Program Lead – AI Big Bets!

The Technical Program Lead – AI Big Bets will lead technical product management for AI Big Bets in support of the business unit level initiatives for AI-led modernization of McKesson's operations, focusing on supply chain, cash management, pricing, and document/contract digitization and optimization. This role will drive multi-BU transformation by leveraging AI to enhance operational efficiencies and business value, co-leading with the AI/ML experimentation leader to identify, validate, and capitalize on strategic opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Transformation

  • Implement the strategic AI experimentation process to identify high-impact opportunities across multiple business units focused on modernizing our operations
  • Collaborate with AI/ML experimentation team to design and execute experiments that demonstrate incremental business value, guiding prioritization and resource allocation.

End-to-End Value Realization

  • Ensure seamless integration of AI solutions across business units by partnering with advanced analytics, data science, and operational teams.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of AI initiatives from ideation through to implementation and value capture, ensuring alignment with business unit and enterprise objectives.

Establish High-Performance Delivery Structure

  • Lead delivery of AI/ML initiatives across multiple business units, partnering with a team of AI experts and data scientists, promoting a culture that embraces agility, innovation, and strategic risk-taking to stay ahead in AI advancements
  • Establish an environment that balances speed with thoroughness, encouraging calculated risk-taking and viewing failures as learning opportunities
  • Foster collaboration and alignment with cross-functional stakeholders, driving AI initiatives that align with strategic business goals.

Change Management & Communication

  • Develop and execute change management strategies to facilitate the adoption of AI technologies across the assigned businesses, engaging senior executives
  • Drive shared accountability between technology and business teams, engaging directly with technology leaders as well as BU function heads
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across the organization.

Facilitate Knowledge Transfer & Scaling

  • Develop processes to transition successful experiments to production implementation teams
  • Create knowledge repositories and documentation standards to capture learnings from all experiments
  • Establish communities of practice to share techniques and insights across the organization

Measure & Communicate Impact

  • Implement metrics to track experimental throughput, success rates, and business impact
  • Leverage compelling narratives and visualizations to communicate complex findings to executives
  • Create transparent reporting on the experimentation pipeline and portfolio performance

Minimum Requirements

Typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience

Critical Skills

  • 10+ years in leading strategy and delivery of data science and advanced analytics initiatives, with extensive experience in digital transformation initiatives.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-level transformation initiatives through targeted AI applications that enhance operational efficiency
  • Solid technical background in machine learning methodologies with ability to evaluate solution feasibility and guide teams through effective experimentation approaches
  • Adept at identifying and prioritizing high-value AI opportunities, developing structured approaches to prototype and validate potential business impact
  • Strong presentation skills with ability to create compelling data visualizations and communicate complex findings to diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated success in guiding AI projects from concept to implementation, establishing best practices for knowledge sharing and cross-team collaboration
  • Effective communicator who builds strong relationships with business partners, translating complex technical concepts into accessible insights that drive decision-making

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, Applied Mathematics or related field. MBA or Master’s degree in a quantitative field preferred OR equivalent experience.

Working Conditions:

Environment (Office, warehouse, etc.) –

  • Traditional office environment.
  • Large percent of time performing computer based work is required

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$151,600 - $252,600
