The Role

Join our team as a Team Lead, Software Development!

As a Team Lead, Software Development at Skilljar Inc., you will have a unique opportunity to lead a team that exhibits commendable work behaviors, enabling you to make a significant impact in a fast-paced, innovative environment. In this role, you will apply your deep understanding of web development, encompassing both front-end and back-end technologies, to effectively guide our software development efforts. With your strong coding skills and proficiency in architectural patterns, you will steer the team towards delivering flawless and world-class products.

  • Provide direction, guidance, and support to the team, ensuring collaboration and inclusion.
  • Set clear performance expectations, establish specific goals and metrics, conduct weekly 1:1’s, and mentor individual contributors.
  •  Identify skill development opportunities, foster continuous learning, and support professional growth through mentorship and development plans.
  •  Work closely with Product Managers and designers to deliver quality product functionality and maintain team alignment.
  •  Contribute to technical conversations, improve technical practices, and lead design reviews and technical decision-making processes.
  • Write code, review code, and lead minor initiatives, dedicating 40-50% of your time to technical contributions.
  • Increase team efficiency through Lean agile processes, track and plan for tech debt, and drive application design and architecture initiatives.
  • As assigned.

  • At least 2 years of experience managing or leading software development engineers.
  • Proven experience delivering high-quality features, balancing time-to-market and scalability.
  • Demonstrated ability to build web applications at scale using Django, Rails, or equivalent frameworks.

  • Knowledge of standard methodologies for the full software development process.
  • Confidence throughout the stack, from building front-end interfaces to backends and APIs.
  • Self-directed and comfortable in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements and designs.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with excellent communication skills.

This is a major step towards not only complying with state and local regulations where required, but also to make sure Skilljar is putting pay equity and DEIB top of mind during the hiring process. Base salary is only a part of the total rewards package - this role will also be eligible for a new hire equity grant in the form of stock options, and a sales commission. Below is the base salary for this role:

The placement within the salary range will be determined based on factors such as experience, education, relevant skill set, and internal equity.

This role can be hired in: Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, Utah, Colorado (excluding Denver - Fort. Collins CO Metro), Connecticut (excluding Metro), Illinois (excluding Chicago), New Jersey (excluding Metro Area), New York (excluding NYC Metro), and Virginia (excluding Metro Area).
