A Brief Overview
The Director of Tax will lead and oversee the organization's tax policies and objectives, monitor reporting and planning to ensure compliance with applicable tax statutes, ensure the accuracy of tax returns, and work to minimize the organization's tax obligations.

What you will do

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and oversee the organization’s tax policies and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Review and ensure the accuracy of tax returns.
  • File for payment extensions with supporting documentation as needed.
  • Develop and implement effective tax planning strategies to minimize the organization's tax liabilities while complying with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide guidance and support to the Controller’s Office on all tax-related matters.
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax provision and financial reporting
  • Manage tax audits and other related inquiries from tax authorities
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations and adjust strategies accordingly
  • Research complex tax issues and legal changes, consulting with internal/external professionals to gain insights.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve tax procedures. This includes designing new procedures, implementing efficient solutions (software, outsourcing), etc.
  • Advise on tax implications of organization’s business decisions
  • Oversee monthly sales/use, tangible personal property, and real estate tax returns for all locations and entities, ensuring accuracy of assessments.
  • Develop and implement tax strategies to support the organization’s remote worker arrangements
  • Manage and lead a team of tax professionals


Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with preference given to master’s degree in Taxation.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years’ prior experience in taxation, including income tax/sales/use tax


Experience Qualifications

  • Ten (10) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
    Preferred CPA firm experience in taxation
    Preferred prior experience in healthcare accounting


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • In-depth understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Expertise in ensuring compliance with tax statutes and regulations.
  • Ability to develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting and accounting principles.
  • Experience in managing tax audits and negotiations with tax authorities.
  • Strong leadership skills to manage a team and oversee departmental functions.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex tax issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with various stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with tax software and other financial tools.
  • Commitment to staying updated on changes in tax laws and regulation


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of hospital information systems


Licenses and Certifications

  • CPA - Certified Public Accountant preferred .
  • HFMA - Certified Rev Cycle Rep (CRCR) preferred .

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $91.60 - $121.38 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
