About the role

As an engineer on the Data Platform team, you will help build out our real-time data pipelines for millions of unstructured financial documents to feed our financial LLM. It’s cutting-edge data engineering at the AI frontier. At Rogo, having a thorough and accurate understanding of data is at the core of the work we do.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and building large-scale infrastructure to power crawling, ranking, and retrieval systems.

  • Ship secure and compliant code and implement security concepts to develop software dealing with sensitive data.  Work with the security teams choosing what to build vs buy.

  • Raise the bar for code quality, reliability and product velocity. Collaboratively, you'll push yourself and peers to develop technically and interpersonally

  • Serve as a mentor for engineers across the team, fostering growth and ensuring best practices.

  • Investigate and resolve complex technical challenges, ensuring high availability and reliability of data pipelines and systems.

  • Evaluate and implement new technologies, frameworks, and approaches to improve efficiency and outcomes.

Hard Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience as a software engineer, with a focus on data platforms or infrastructure.

  • Expertise in Python and SQL, with a deep understanding of multi-threading, multi-processing, asyncio, and concurrency primitives.

  • Mastery of distributed systems and proficiency in tools such as PostgreSQL, Snowflake, or Elasticsearch.

  • Proven experience deploying and managing mission-critical ETL pipelines with diverse and large-scale data sources.

  • Extensive experience with orchestration frameworks such as Apache Airflow or Dagster (2+ years).

  • Proficiency in AWS or other cloud environments, with practical knowledge of their services.

  • Demonstrated ability to design and monitor secure and scalable systems, especially in production-grade environments.

  • Familiarity with LLMs and their potential applications

Bonus Requirements:

  • Expertise in a strongly typed language, such as Rust, and experience integrating it within data workflows.

  • Experience in stream processing frameworks and architectures.

  • Background in financial services or other data-intensive industries.

  • Prior experience in hyper-growth startup environments.

  • Hands-on experience with Datadog or other telemetry and monitoring tools.
