Spring Health is looking for a Staff Product Designer to join our Member Experience team. Reporting to the Associate Director of Product Design, Member Experience you will leverage the end-to-end product design process to increase the number of people who utilize their Spring benefits, find the right care, and improve on Spring’s member platform. You will not only co-lead your pod, partnering with PMs, Engineering, Data Science, and Marketing to execute Spring’s product strategy through 0-1 launches, experiments and other investments to remove mental health barriers worldwide but also play a strategic, influential role within the Member Experience superpod and design, impacting multiple teams.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Partner with product, engineering, data science, and marketing to identify and ship meaningful and measurable impacts on key areas of Spring’s member experience in alignment with Spring’s product strategy.
  • Hone in on the most important and impactful problems to solve and how to solve them. Ship high quality MVPs and stand up totally new products. 
  • Design solutions to test hypotheses and gain signals for further improvements.
  • Help everyone across the organization understand design decisions and progress through high quality documentation and guidance.
  • Combine empathy, curiosity, and inspiration to develop truly unique approaches that differentiate Spring and broaden interest in mental health.

What success looks like in this role:

  • Impact on product and business metrics: Increase Spring’s key (L0) product metrics.
  • Impact on design metrics: Maintain or increase the Member Experience’s high system usability scale (SUS).

What we expect from you

You’ve worked for 8+ years in product design capacity at a technology-driven organization with product managers, data scientists, and engineers, contributing to and leading the design of product experiences with a metrics-driven approach to design.

  • Portfolio work that demonstrates your experience transforming product objectives into solutions that are impactful to the business and users and that showcases work that demonstrate your ability to work on AI powered experiences. 
  • Work with UXR and your team to identify and understand strategic opportunities. Hone in on the most important and impactful problems to solve and how to solve them.
  • Brings forward ideas and initiatives that expand thinking and creativity on the team.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Proactively and efficiently manage your own work to Spring’s highest quality bar while frequently upleveling the work of others through cross-pod contributions and driving greater than normal impact on the business
  • Strong working relationship with engineers and technical understanding
  • Experience partnering closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Data Science, as well as collaborating with external stakeholders such as Customer Support, Marketing and Sales, to create and deliver on a shared vision of success.
  • Strong communication skills for articulating, discussing, and advocating for design decisions across the team, cross-functionally and to leadership. High quality documentation and guidance.
  • Team-player mindset: what’s good for the team is good for individuals.

Ship Iteratively 

  • Highly efficient and excellent at balancing effort vs. reward
  • Solve problems with purpose and urgency. Hold yourself accountable to ambitious yet realistic timelines with high-quality deliverables. 
  • Ability to give engineers guidelines so that they can move forward without fully completed designs.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative data to experiment and evaluate hypotheses and make decisions quickly.
  • Able to balance detailed design tasks with a high-level vision, considering both immediate and long-term project goals.
  • Skilled in creating high-fidelity prototypes and conducting usability testing, with a track record of improving user experiences based on testing 

Deliver high quality designs

  • Genuine interest in building accessible and inclusive products. Understanding of latest accessibility and usability standards.
  • Skill in designing user journeys that consider a user’s mental state and emotional journey, using empathy mapping to anticipate user needs at each touchpoint. They should have experience in designing intuitive pathways for users who may be in distress or unfamiliar with mental health resources.
  • Comfortable using and contributing to Design Systems. Experience applying a systematic approach to design that enables generative/variable outcomes.
  • Excellence in: information architecture and interaction design. Expertise with Figma and prototyping.
  • Multiple examples of your ability to design best in class user interfaces. 
  • Love for design: you’re not satisfied with the status quo and always think of ways to improve.

Leadership

  • Play a pivotal role in both maintaining high design standards and fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented environment within their pod and Design.
  • Help set quality benchmarks and work together to maintain them.
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to other designers, helping them grow and improve their work. Contribute to the overall skill development of the team.
  • Actively provide feedback to their leader and their leader's leader about how to improve things given their unique visibility at the pod and superpod level.
  • Share leadership responsibilities within their pod, working alongside other pod leads (like product managers or engineering leads) to guide the team, make strategic decisions, and ensure that the pod’s objectives are met.
  • Naturally thought of as a problem solver by others. Seen and felt as having the knowledge, experience, or skillset to help others navigate product problems. Establish visibility, presence, trust, and demonstrate a track record of problem resolution with others.

The target base salary range for this position is $194,080 - $242,600, and is part of a competitive total rewards package including stock options and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually using Radford Global Compensation Database at minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
