The Sr. Sourcing Manager for Supplier Quality Engineering will drive quality metrics for commodity team, including action plan preparation and implementation. Directs projects and teams for timely resolution of quality escapes, CIDs, SPRs and other key/critical processes within GE Aerospace’s Quality Systems. Prepare communications and be active part of the resolution process. Own supplier metrics, actively working with suppliers to close CAPA's and improvements utilizing supplier scorecards. Documenting and driving improvement plans where needed. Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of GE Engineering, Sourcing, Engine Programs and Quality relationships.

Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Manage business metrics for owned commodity. Partner with Quality Manager of assigned Commodity to provide support to Supplier Quality Engineers (PQEs) and Suppliers to drive metric improvements. Mentors and facilitates Team Members for emerging QEMs, and other aspects of Supplier Quality and Quality Manager’s roles.
  • Utilize problem solving tools to develop and manage action plans to meet key metrics.
  • Support complex issues and escapes by leading coordination of resources, preparing communications, creating and closing action items.
  • Developing specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own job discipline or field. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest functional developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensures delivery within area of responsibility.
  • Skilled influencer, able to communicate complex messages to others. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
  • Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. These jobs have significant input into their priorities. Jobs at this level tend to be covered by professional practices and policies but these are shaped by the role. Working within broad guidelines and policies, roles at this level have moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of evaluative judgment.
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems that impact the function. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Has knowledge of the quality and/or commodity process. Can advise suppliers of corrective actions to solve process problems. Can assess corrective actions for ability to permanently solve issues.
  • Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems that impact the function. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
    • Travel can be 5-10% at times

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, Shop Operations, Materials or Sourcing)
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, Shop Operations, Materials or Sourcing
