POSITION SUMMARY:

Nymbus is looking for an experienced Lead Developer that can be both a player and a coach.  The position of Lead Developer combines technical experience, analytical abilities, sound coding skills, with people leadership.  You will work with a full-stack team and will need experience in working on both sides of our technical stack.  Any given day you will lead architectural discussion, plan initiatives for your team, work across the organization to align objectives, build up your team’s abilities, and code along with your team.

You will be supported by an Engineering Manager and a hands-on Product Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deep experience with Python and Javascript: The candidate must be capable of learning and maintaining existing system components developed in Python and Javascript, with the objective of modernizing and improving these components over time.
  • Product development: Candidate must be able to work closely with and manage  distributed team members to deliver well thought out, configurable, high quality, scalable solutions used across our bank and credit union clients.
  • Strong understanding of database schemas, data modeling, and database design principles: Candidates must demonstrate expertise in relational (and optionally non-relational) database concepts to programmatically maintain data layer consistency between environments.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Database Scripting: Strong skills in writing and optimizing SQL queries and scripts are essential.
  • Knowledge of Source Control Management (SCM) systems: Candidates should be familiar with SCM tools like Git, SVN, or Mercurial, particularly in the context of managing database schema versions
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines: A solid understanding of CI/CD principles and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI) in relation to database deployments is required.
  • Familiarity with ORM tools: Knowledge of Object-Relational Mapping tools (e.g., Hibernate, Entity Framework, Sequelize) is advantageous but not essential
  • Experience with Java and Jython/GraalVM are not required but highly desired.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Programing Experience: 
    • Minimum 7 years in a Python & Javascript development role. 
    • Not required but prefer 2 or more years of Java experience.
    • Proven understanding of web technologies, such as:  JavaScript, CSS, HTML, REST APIs
  • Experience in Programmatic Management of Databases: 
    • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in database management and architecture. 
    • Candidates should have knowledge of database design, database query languages, and automated management of the data layer. 
  • Remote Work: 
    • Strong communication skills in English (spoken and written)
    • Positive attitude, willing to learn, build relationships, solve problems and contribute
    • Able to maintain a strong work ethic in a rapidly changing and fast-paced environment
    • Experience and preference for working 100% remote with a distributed team.

SALARY & BENEFITS:

  • $135,000 - $150,000 Annual Salary 
  • Annual Cash Bonus and Equity Options commensurate with the role level and experience
  • 100% Fully Remote
