Description
The US Retail Markets (USRM) Architecture Solutions team is searching for a Senior Portfolio Architect. Liberty Mutual is constantly innovating and creating industry-leading solutions that provide peace of mind for our customers, agents, and partners. As an experienced architect, you'll play a critical role in helping us reshape our core technology solutions that allow our customers to embrace today and confidently pursue tomorrow. Your efforts will also enable and empower thousands of agents & employees with simple, scalable and secure solutions. You will work with modern cloud-based architecture in a highly collaborative and agile engineering environment.
We are looking for a change agent that will play a critical role moving our technology and business forward, solving the most complex problems with simple fit for purpose solutions while providing leadership of cross-functional teams that will unlock positive business outcomes.
You will be responsible for the architecture supporting software engineers and integrators of large-scale enterprise-grade insurance products and services covering all lines of business. Your initial focus will be on our north star architecture where you will drive convergence, allowing us to launch new products in less time across all our distribution channels. You will create high-level architecture for all sales experiences and sales and marketing capabilities and collaborate with Solution Architects to create architecture roadmaps across all platforms. You will contribute to establishing technological standards while still having the opportunity to get into the code via the development of exemplar patterns which you will use to establish the golden path (reference implementations) that engineering teams will leverage to accelerate development.

  • Partner with business leadership to identify problems, and opportunities for technology innovation.
  • Help establish a clear, consistent technology vision through collaboration, influence, and enablement.
  • Research, define, and recommend the north star architecture for the sales and marketing platform.
  • Shape enterprise architecture design patterns, design principles and best practices enhancing platform delivery.
  • Drive culture of standardization and architecture transformation.
  • Lead technology proof of concepts and benchmarks to ensure feasibility of architecture platform solutions.
  • Tailor communication and convey complex ideas in a concise manner to a diverse set of audiences and venues.
  • Accelerate delivery by forming a network of positive relationships with vendors, and other influencers within the enterprise and beyond.
  • Mentor architects, engineers and senior leadership alike. Inspire and lead senior technical individual contributors.
  • Stay informed on initiatives across the industry and the enterprise to help product owners and technology leadership effectively prioritize the platform vision.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of agile development methodologies as typically acquired through a Bachelor`s or Master`s degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 12-15 years of engineering, programming, or architecture experience with at least 10 years of architecture experience in applications development in a complex, multi-platform distributed environment. 12+ years of architecture experience in a multi-platform distributed environment preferred.
  • Master's degree in technical discipline
  • Display strong thought leadership in pursuit of modern architecture principles and technology modernization
  • Ability to assess rapidly changing technologies and apply them to business needs
  • Experience with CRM and Sales Platforms such as Salesforce
  • Experience with AWS services such as S3, RDS, DynomoDB, EC2, and Lambda
  • Experience in messaging platforms, protocols, and techniques such as Kafka, and event sourcing
  • Experience with event-based application architecture and design
  • Experience developing applications in cloud-based platforms such as AWS, Azure and/or GCP
  • Experience with leading Insurance SaaS platforms such as Guidewire or Duck Creek
  • Experience in a wide variety of data storage technologies, from RDBMS to NoSQL, Graph and object storage
  • Understanding of data security and data access controls and design aspects
  • Experience with gathering end user requirements and writing technical documentation leveraging frameworks such as TOGAF and/or C4 Modeling
  • Experience leveraging various well architected frameworks to drive architecture runways
  • Experience in Agile development methodologies
  • Excellent customer-facing and team player skills
  • Time management and multitasking skills to effectively meet challenging deadlines
  • Ability to suggest innovative solutions based on new technologies and trends
