PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $169,200.00-$206,700.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $131,800.00 - $244,400.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

BENEFITS

Employees and their eligible family members have access to a wide array of employee benefits, such as medical, dental, vision and life insurance coverage.  Employees have access to disability and AD&D insurance.  We also offer health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts, as well as health savings accounts, to eligible employees.  Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan and employer-funded retirement plan.  Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:

As a Senior Manager of Technology, you won’t just lead teams—you’ll shape the future of how BECU builds, scales, and delivers innovative digital solutions to our members. In this highly visible role, your leadership will directly contribute to the execution of major modernization efforts and support the transformation of our digital platforms. You’ll align technology strategy with business goals, guide a talented team of engineers, and introduce cutting-edge architectural solutions across Cloud, Data, API, and DevOps.

You’ll be driving one of our top enterprise priorities, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring delivery excellence. Your passion for coaching others, building strong partnerships, and staying curious about emerging tech trends will help elevate BECU’s member experience and long-term growth.

To join our dynamic team, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, or SC. If you’re located in Washington state and within a reasonable driving distance from Tukwila, we are requesting that you come into our HQ on Tuesdays & Wednesdays.  For those candidates that live outside the commute distance of TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Technology Partnership & Business Alignment:
    Build strong relationships with business stakeholders, understand their needs, and co-create technology solutions that drive real value.
  • Strategic Execution :
    Lead and execute digital modernization initiatives by aligning team goals with BECU’s strategic vision. Develop tech roadmaps, guide agile delivery, and champion engineering excellence.
  • Innovation:
    Identify innovative technologies and lead RFPs, project charters, and business cases to bring these ideas to life in support of our members.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    Build a high-performing, agile team by mentoring, coaching, and supporting continuous learning. Conduct performance check-ins and provide thoughtful feedback to empower your team.
  • Engineering Oversight:
    Manage technical delivery across Agile teams. Promote best practices, foster a DevOps mindset, and lead the charge on automation and CI/CD improvements.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    Work closely with business units, architects, product managers, and vendor partners to ensure delivery meets the needs of both the business and our members.
  • Project Management:
    Ensure timely execution and oversight of initiatives, from kick-off through implementation, and support long-term sustainability.
  • Financial Accountability:
    Contribute to annual planning and budgeting. Provide insight on costs for both internal delivery and vendor partnerships.
  • Vendor & Partner Management:
    Review contracts and manage the contributions of external technology vendors and partners to keep efforts aligned and efficient.
  • Culture Champion:
    Foster a collaborative, agile culture where curiosity, innovation, and delivery excellence thrive.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience leading people and managing technology teams
  • 5+ years in IT, with expertise in application design and platform development
  • Hands on expertise in Angular, React, or Web Components
  • Proficiency in Java (8+), Spring Boot, and related backend frameworks
  • Experience in designing and managing microservices and API-based architectures, RESTful APIs
  • Proven hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum delivery and engineering lifecycle
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, change management, and DevOps practices
  • Demonstrated experience with ERP systems, infrastructure/operations, or financial product tech (e.g., Credit Card, Mortgage, Deposits)
  • Understanding of software engineering principles and system architecture

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree
  • Experience building and scaling technology platforms and teams
  • Familiarity with Backbase platform.
  • Experience in digital transformation projects, mobile banking, and omnichannel customer experiences.
  • Expertise in OAuth, OpenID Connect, JWT, and API security best practices.
  • Strong communicator across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Background working in Agile environments with cross-functional teams
  • Passion for driving innovation, modernization, and member-first technology solutions
