POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Manager, Solution Design Team Lead is responsible for managing Client engagements and conducting analysis, modeling, research, solution development, presentation creation and delivering Client value. They will also focus on the development, and management of an internal team within the broader Solution Design Group. They will create an inspiring collaborative team environment with an open communication culture, set clear team goals, delegate tasks, and coach/mentor associates to successfully deliver client engagements for distribution center operations designs. This position will provide leadership and development for 6-10 Fortna employees, of varying levels of experience, and focus on the management of the group’s resource planning and project execution across all delivery projects. This role will support promoting and developing the approach and methodologies for the delivery of projects from initial lead up to implementation.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Collaborating with leadership to define, develop and implement the approaches and methodologies to drive efficient delivery by the wider team.
  • Managing and monitoring several client engagements concurrently through effective team supervision and delegation.
  • Leading and supporting large complex operation and distribution center design projects across teams as a Subject Matter Expert, Project Manager or Solution Architect.
  • Meeting project goals and objectives and managing project risk, by means of creating efficient workplans and timelines, and overseeing project approach.
  • Provide leadership and subject matter expertise on project execution, operational concepts, technology to meet and client business objectives.
  • Providing visibility and input into continuous improvement for department and resources.
  • Providing development opportunities for Fortna employees and training others on problem solving approaches.
  • Management of resourcing and staffing plans across team.
  • Demonstrating leadership by providing vision, direction, and guidance to Client teams, and by overseeing and delegating responsibilities to Associates.
  • Collaborating with both Client and Fortna stakeholders
  • Cross team communication within the Solution Design Teams and broader organization during project work to ensure alignment.
  • Fostering business case thinking within the project team and the ability to develop a business case.
  • Leading core team meetings and steering team updates.
  • Leading and supporting internal project teams in the development of tools templates and methodologies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with evidence of strong performance in engineering, logistics, and operations
  • 3-5 years of experience in performing industrial engineering work in complex supply chains
  • Experience in DC operations design including concepting of DC layout, operations improvement, material handling system (MHS) design, process design, value stream mapping, etc.
  • Supply chain consulting related work experience with a minimum of 4 years cumulative experience in consulting services
  • Proven involvement with business case development
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills
  • Technical expertise (e.g., Network Modeling, DC Design, Operations Implementation)
  • Strong level of business acumen
  • Ability to manage overall project efforts and Client relationships
  • Ability to employ persuasion skills with discretion and consideration
  • Ability to coach, lead, and manage others
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work effectively on a team and support high levels of performance
  • Excellent facilitation skills
  • Excellent research and knowledge management skills
  • Advanced collaboration and communication skills, both written and verbal

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, operations, engineering or related field
  • CPIM or CSCP certification from Association for Operations Management (APICS)
  • PMP Certification from Project Management Institute (PMI
  • Supply Chain certification training, e.g., The Logistics Institute at Georgia Tech, IIE

The base salary range for this role is $115,900 to $173,800.  This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position. Actual base salary offered will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.

WORKING CONDITIONS: When duties are performed in a typical office environment, extended periods of sitting at a desk and viewing a computer screen will be required. Also required is the ability to talk and hear, in person and by telephone; use of hands to handle, feel, or operate standard office equipment; and ability to reach with hands and arms. Associates are frequently required to walk and stand. The noise level in this work environment is usually quiet. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.

When travelling to Client sites, essential requirements of this position may require physical presence in various environments and locations. Physical stamina may be required for prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and/or working in cramped quarters. Exposure to potentially dangerous tools and equipment amidst a variety of building materials is probable, as is occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can vary from being relatively quiet, to moderate, to excessive. Safety shoes or boots may be required in certain situations. Additional safety clothing including gloves, hardhats, and devices to protect eyes, mouth, or hearing, will be worn as necessary.
