Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology team is looking for a passionate Engineering Manager to lead the Platform team managing the Service Reliability Activities within the Commerce Growth and Identity Business Unit The Platform team is responsible for assisting in the planning, monitoring, and controlling the day-to-day operations and delivery aspects of the Site Reliability team, thus having a direct impact on the company's subscription numbers and revenue. The team is responsible for creating and managing these critical services leveraging a multi-region architecture on AWS. This team is based out of the New York, San Francisco and the Santa Monica offices and you will be a key Engineering leader helping drive the platform team. You will have an opportunity to learn about the international landscape and challenges in operating and running tier-1 services at a global scale.
As an Engineering Leader for the Platform team, you will• Drive the technical vision for the platform team to help operate services at global scale.• Lead architectural and design discussions to help the teams build and operate highly scalable and reliable services.• Work with Product Managers, Engineering team, QA, and other cross-functional teams to drive the vision and roadmap for the team.• Lead and grow the team by hiring and retaining top engineering talent.• Participate in Agile methodology and SCRUM processes such as Sprint Planning, Backlog grooming, Daily Standups and Retrospectives with the team.
Minimal Qualifications

  • BS degree in computer science or equivalent work experience

• 10+ years of experience providing Site Reliability Engineering support for global services• 2+ years of people management experience.• Demonstrated success working as a Senior Service Reliability Engineer of complex distributed tier 1 backend services in the critical path, prior to transitioning into a manager role
. • Experience working and operating cloud based services.• Experience hiring top engineering talent and making tough decisions.• Strong partner and communicator with ability to articulate the team vision and technical concepts to cross-functional stakeholders.• Ability to take decisions in ambiguous situations and a fast paced environment with constantly changing business needs.• Excellent motivator driving influence and high throughput from the team.• Passionate about engineering best practices and leading by example.
Nice to haves• Experience working with Amazon Web Services.• Prior experience implementing services in a JVM based language (Java/Scala/Kotlin).

The hiring range for this position in Seattle, Washington or New York is $193,100 - $258,900 per year, in Los Angeles, California is $184,300 - $247,100 per year and in San Francisco, California is $201,900 - $270,700 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
