As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will develop and execute commercial quality processes for the design, test and manufacture, and operations and maintenance of launch vehicles, spacecraft, and related technologies. You will be responsible to drive quality products throughout the organization by maintaining a corporate culture that emphasizes accountability, discipline, and attention to detail at all levels.  You must have a passion for solving complex problems and providing operable solutions; act with minimal direction and on your own initiative; and be adaptable as you will work on a variety of applications and systems.  We are looking for an individual that can implement innovative quality management system solutions, supporting accelerated innovative technology and research activities, as well as efficient, predictable production capable solutions that will support sub-orbital & orbital manufacturing & launch, and engine development and production. You will report to the Blue Origin Director of Quality in Kent, Washington.  This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coach Quality Assurance staff at the Blue Origin Kent Site to:
  • Identify and mitigate quality risks, demonstrating ownership by developing operable solutions in a collaborative environment, maintaining a world-class quality system
  • Engage in engineering design reviews and make recommendations to enhance the quality and manufacturability of new designs
  • Identify, champion, and support opportunities for innovation in quality improvement
  • Facilitate troubleshooting of quality issues with diverse teams, lead causal analysis activities to drive to root cause and corrective action
  • Participate in acceptance processes; ensure adherence to and health of acceptance processes
  • Provide quality assurance subject matter expertise to manufacturing and test, and operations and maintenance (i.e. NDE, receiving inspection, metrology, calibration, and FOD methodologies)
  • Lead and coordinate resolution to customer related quality issues and communicate quality and continuous improvement requirements and expectations with external customers on quality related concerns
  • Manage process health assessment methodologies and perform periodic audits of the application of our quality system, maintaining compliance with company and identified industry standards
  • Manage Quality Assurance business objectives: prepares budgets, analyzes variances, and initiating corrective actions where required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering, or technical discipline
  • 10+ years’ industry experience in manufacturing, test, or operations field with at least 10 years in a quality role
  • Past experience managing quality management systems; familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9000 Quality Management System and/or related quality systems and programs
  • Quality assurance experience in production environment 
  • Strong experience in leadership, planning, and project management
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion 

Desired:

  • Aerospace, space launch, military or commercial aviation, or heavy industrial equipment manufacturing preferred
  • Quality assurance experience in development, production, flight operations and maintenance environments
  • Knowledge of design for inspection or testability
  • Managing Training Personnel
  • Knowledge of NDE and receiving inspection methodologies
  • Knowledge of design for inspection or testability
  • Relevant experience in transitioning a product from development, through production to operations
  • Relevant experience in AS9145, Advanced Product Quality Planning and Production Part Approval Process
  • Quality Management System audit experience
  • Quality performance measurement analysis capabilities
  • American Society of Quality, Certified Quality Engineer certification
  • Six Sigma Green, Black Belt, or comparable certification


 

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $153,648.00-$215,106.15

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification, Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
