Software Engineer III - Java, Kafka and Micro Services

Job Description

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial and Investment Bank you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Job responsibilities

• Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
• Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
• Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
• Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
• Provide estimates for user stories utilizing planning poker.
• Participate in product backlog prioritization, story mapping, and story splitting activities.
• Prepare and lead sprint review meetings showcasing completed product backlog items to the product owner and subject matter experts.
• Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
• Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years of applied experience.
• Experienced in Java and Spring Boot including standalone Spring Framework integration
• Strong knowledge in Core Java (Java 11+), Spring Boot, REST, Kafka, Micro Services, Agile, DevOps
• Deep experience in object oriented analysis and design (OOAD)
• Good SQL/PL-SQL Skills and Hibernate/JPA
• Passionate about testing strategy, problem solving, learning new skills, sharing expertise and knowledge
• Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
• Solid understanding of agile methodologies, CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
• Strong written and oral communication and excellent presentation and influencing skills
• Proven ability to collaborate with global agile teams

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Experience in Production support
• Previous experience within payments technology
• Exposure to cloud technologies
