As a Software Engineer – AI Agents, you will be at the forefront of integrating cutting-edge AI technologies into our platform, driving efficiency, intelligence, and automation across alternative asset management workflows. 

This role is an opportunity to shape the future of AI-driven finance, building agentic systems that streamline research, decision-making, and operational processes. You will work alongside world-class engineers, data scientists, and product leaders, applying advanced AI techniques to deliver meaningful impact across the industry. 

Responsibilities 

  • Develop next-generation AI Agents to deliver a combination of capabilities to research structured and unstructured data. 
  • Design, develop, and optimize algorithms that strategically prompt LLMs to execute complex, multi-step reasoning tasks, agentic workflows and chains efficiently. 
  • Write high quality, modular code to capture agentic design patterns into reusable, maintainable, production-ready code. 
  • Prototype AI-driven experiences rapidly, collecting user feedback to refine capabilities.  
  • Implement robust evaluation systems for AI agents, leveraging both in-house and third-party tools.  
  • Ensure AI performance and reliability, carefully crafting comprehensive end-to-end and unit test-cases for agents and related sub-components. 
  • Prepare structured and unstructured data for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and other agentic chains and workflows.  
  • Deploy AI-powered solutions to the cloud with a focus on latency, scalability, and security.  
  • Stay ahead of AI innovation, continuously evolving our agentic models based on the latest Generative AI research and tools for optimal LLM invocation. 

Requirements 

  • Strong Python programming experience, with a deep understanding of data structures and algorithms. 
  • Prompt engineering experience with an intuitive grasp of LLM behaviour and understanding of patterns such as ReACT, Chain-of-Thought (CoT), function calling, Text2SQL and intelligent routing. 
  • Experience with open-source frameworks such as LangChain and LlamaIndex. 
  • Generative AI/LLM test-case and validation experience. 
  • Understanding of cloud deployment such as Kubernetes, Docker and/or cloud ML platforms such as Amazon bedrock. 
  • Understanding of retrieval augmented generation (RAG) and related topics such as chunking strategies, hybrid indexing, graph RAG and agentic RAG. 
  • Exceptional attention to code quality and emphasis on adhering to established software design patterns. 
  • Hands-on experience developing production-grade systems in one or more of the above areas.  
  • BS in Computer Science or a related field.  
  • 2 years of professional experience in workplace setting

CAIS’ compensation package includes a market competitive salary, a performance bonus, and exceptional benefits. If you are located in New York, New York, the base salary range for this role is $150,000 - $170,000. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
