About Quilter
At Quilter, we are helping electrical engineers save time and accomplish more by automating the tedious and time-consuming task of designing circuit boards. Our team is composed of experts in electrical engineering, ML/AI, and software development leveraging (and inventing) novel techniques to solve the decades-old problem of automating circuit board design. We raised $10 million in series-A funding to use a combination of machine learning and high-performance computing (HPC) to make designing printed circuit boards a less grueling and manual experience
Created in 2021, Quilter has been fully remote from the start with team members distributed throughout the US and an unofficial "headquarters" in Los Angeles, CA. No matter where we come from, we're united by a common vision for the future and a core set of values we think will get us there:
-
Focus on the mission
-
Demonstrate grit
-
Never stop learning
-
Pursue excellence
We're seeking a talented C++ engineer to shape the fundamental algorithms that will power Quilter's future innovations. As a Senior to Staff Software Engineer, you'll have the remarkable opportunity to architect the core geometry, physics, and meshing engines that drive our automated PCB design system. This is a greenfield role where you'll own and solve some of the most complex and impactful challenges on our technology roadmap.
You'll collaborate closely with our world-class team of ML/AI researchers and engineers, applying your expertise in areas like path planning, collision detection, and geometric optimization to solve intricate routing problems. Your high-performance C++ code will create dynamic representations of circuit boards, enabling our reinforcement learning agents to explore and manipulate these environments.
To thrive in this role, you'll need:
-
10+ years of industry experience maintaining and extending large, high-performance C++ codebases in collaborative environments.
-
A strong academic background ( B.Sc, M.Sc, or Ph.D) in meshing, simulation, physics, robotics, or related fields.
-
Proficiency in Python to integrate with our ML systems.
-
A passion for pushing the boundaries of what's possible in automated circuit design.
What you’ll do
-
Create high performance representations of physical circuit boards that allow for manipulation and exploration of those boards
-
Apply algorithms created for path planning, collision detection, geometric optimization to solve routing problems
-
Maintain a high performance geometry library
-
Work closely with the reinforcement learning team to support training agents that choose actions in the environment you create
Please note: We are an equal opportunity employer and currently a remote-only company. At this time, we are focused on hiring primarily within the US, with occasional exception to accommodate exceptional talent.
What we offer:
-
Interesting and challenging work
-
Competitive salary and equity benefits
-
Remote work with no commute
-
Health, dental, and vision insurance
-
Regular team events and offsites (~2x / year)
-
Unlimited paid time off
-
Paid parental leave
