The Opportunity

As a Sr. Software Engineer I, you will be in a leading role within Kargo’s large-scale distributed Supply Side Platform (SSP) to: 1) Maximize revenue for publishers, and 2) Enhance brand value for marketers.

You will be responsible for developing technical solutions using cutting-edge technology like Golang, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Tensorflow, and Snowflake, to solve AdTech problems like: Traffic Shaping, QPS management, Margin management, Ad monetization (pacing & auction mechanics), and experimentation (A/B, bandit). You should have a strong background in AdTech with experience working within an SSP or Demand Side Platform (DSP), and have worked to solve similar problems that are prevalent in an auction platform.

The Daily To-Do

  • Actively participate in the team’s Agile ceremonies to achieve sprint goals that ladder up to quarterly commitments and team-level OKRs.
  • Be an active voice to set and influence coding standards and team processes.
  • Be an advisor to the Product Manager to develop and architect solutions, and execute the implementation with the team.
  • Take ownership of researching new technologies, prototypes, and developing tools to improve developer experience and accessibility in the SSP.
  • Be an expert in various features of the platform to troubleshoot escalations relating to ad operations.
  • Actively participate in the team’s on-call rotation to ensure that the SSP maintains its Service Level Objectives (SLOs).

Qualifications

  • You are a product engineer who uses coding as a tool to achieve a desired outcome.
  • You have a track record of leading projects successfully and consistently delivering milestones within a projected due date.
  • You have experience brainstorming loosely defined ideas with Product Managers and developing e2e solutions with documentation inclusive of architecture, implementation, testing, and deployment plan.
  • You are a seasoned software engineer who writes clean and effective code to improve existing software iteratively.
  • You have a strong understanding of software architecture and take an opinionated but pragmatic approach to system design.
  • You are analytical and employ a data-driven approach to communicate your hypothesis with your audiences.
  • You are team-oriented and an excellent communicator who can present complex concepts succinctly.
  • You have experience uplifting junior engineers through pair programming, code reviews, and mentorship.
  • You have a B.S or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics (or equivalent work experience)
  • You have 5+ years of experience working in AdTech or a related field with similar constraints in low-latency, high-performance distributed systems.
  • You have experience developing production-grade applications in Go or an equivalent statically typed coding language like Java or C++
  • You have experience working in a Dockerized Kubernetes environment on AWS or equivalent Cloud infrastructure.
