About Xaira Therapeutics
Xaira is an innovative biotech startup focused on leveraging AI to transform drug discovery and development. The company is leading the development of generative AI models to design protein and antibody therapeutics, enabling the creation of medicines against historically hard-to-drug molecular targets. About the Role
The engineering team at Xaira is looking for a senior software engineer to join a fast-paced team working on a variety of initiatives critical to moving our AI-enabled drug discovery platform forward.
We are a small, pragmatic team and you will find yourself:
- Collaborating with world experts in AI and Life sciences regularly.
- Shipping code daily, with a culture of learning from mistakes and iterating quickly.
- Being expected and empowered to work autonomously.
- Coming onsite to our office (and lab!) - this is not a remote position.
Key Responsibilities
We expect our engineers to be able to work across the company and this is a taste of the different areas that we impact:
- Compute infrastructure provisioning and optimization for AI science and model training.
- Scientific code and research engineering for accelerating scientific progress.
- Large scale AI model inference and tooling.
- Data warehousing and transport for large biological datasets.
- Lab information management and supporting automation engineering.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Computer Science or related field
- 6+ years of experience as a software engineer
- Solid experience with Python, git, and cloud computing
- General experience with backend development, bonus points for FastAPI, and experience with a variety of different persistence technologies.
- Prior experience developing solutions for biotech/life sciences.
- Experience with data warehousing and batch processing technologies like Spark, Iceberg, Trino, etc.
- Familiarity with PyTorch and writing software for ML.
Compensation
We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package, seeking to provide an open, flexible, and friendly work environment to empower employees and provide them with a platform to develop their long-term careers. A Summary of Benefits is available for all applicants. We offer a competitive package that includes base salary, bonus, and equity. The base pay range for this position is expected to be $140,000 to $200,000 annually; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on the market, job-related knowledge, skills and capabilities, and experience.
