About the Role:

Customer Trust is core to Remitly's vision, and as a Senior Engineer on the Privacy Engineering team, you'll be uniquely positioned to safeguard and foster that trust. You'll be the driving force behind Remitly's ethical data handling practices through innovative infrastructure and processes. Your expertise will not only help define our technical vision, but will also position you as a privacy resource and mentor for the rest of the engineering organization. The systems you help create will help protect every customer. You will own first-class, user-facing privacy features that give the customer the best control over how their data is handled. Your role blends software engineering mastery with a passion for privacy, allowing you to dive deep to implement key infrastructure, and go wide to deliver solutions that impact many teams and departments. This is a hybrid work opportunity, requiring 2-3 days a week at our Seattle HQ.

You Will:

  • Oversee the technical vision, strategy, and systems of the privacy engineering team.
  • Design and implement data privacy-enhancing features, tooling, and mechanisms, ensuring compliance with relevant privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
  • Develop tech privacy procedures and guidelines for our products and internal processes.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to build software for privacy.
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure that privacy-by-design is integrated throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Design for technical scale, write system design specs, and implement privacy systems through code.
  • You will report to the Engineering Manager, Privacy Engineering.

You Have:

  • A passion for customer privacy and trust.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of software development experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS or equivalent).
  • Understanding of privacy regulations and data protection best practices.
  • Experience building privacy tooling or infrastructure.
  • Experience designing and implementing software solutions at scale in Golang, Java, C#, Python, or similar.
  • Led projects end-to-end and implemented solutions involving multiple technologies, systems, and cross-functional teams.
  • Have built large-scale API Integrations and Data systems.

Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is typically $180,000-$225,000. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
