About The role


SoFi Cybersecurity Architecture team assists and partners with engineering, product and design organizations. Our mission is  to build a secure and resilient enterprise that protects our employees, customers, and business operations. By embedding security into our infrastructure, cloud environments, and enterprise systems, we safeguard critical assets while enabling the business to operate efficiently and securely.


As a Senior Security Architect, you will be responsible for the end-to-end security architecture of our platforms, products, and corporate services. You will work in conjunction with security, compliance, and risk teams to make decisions and help lead initiatives to ensure timely delivery of security solutions that support our business objectives. 


The ideal candidate will be highly collaborative, balancing the right level of security with business objectives, and working to creatively solve complex Corporate Security related problems in an agile environment. 

What you’ll do:

  • Be an Cybersecurity architect evangelist who can translate security concepts into language that is meaningful to our IT teams and engineering. Design and implement security architectures that align with business needs while ensuring robust protection across corporate environments.
  • Integrate new and existing security tools, standards, and processes into the development life cycle.
  • Design security solution blueprints that meet the system needs. Automate security checklists and implement them as "security as code" using cloud services and CI/CD components.
  • Work closely with engineering and product teams to advise on secure architecture and design choices
  • Review new features / product offerings and perform threat modeling in a continuous delivery agile environment.
  • Implement AI/ML security best practices, ensuring AI models and pipelines are protected against adversarial threats and data poisoning.
  • Conduct security assessments across cloud and corporate IT environments, identifying potential risks and recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Work with our risk and compliance organization to provide input to security risk impact assessment. Contribute to security policy, standards, and guidelines related to Information Security.
  • Evaluate network security, endpoint security, and access control measures, ensuring the organization stays ahead of emerging threats.
  • Architects, designs, prioritizes, coordinates, and communicates the security technologies necessary to ensure a highly secure yet usable computing environment.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on encryption, security controls, secure design and programming practices across the Technology organization.
  • Partner with IT teams to integrate or enhance email security, endpoint security, and cloud security solutions into daily operations.
  • Collaborate with engineering, IT, and executive teams to continuously improve security posture

What you’ll need:

  • Hands-on experience with AWS security controls, IAM best practices, GuardDuty, Security Hub, WAF, KMS, and least privilege access models.
  • Experience with the application of threat modeling or other risk identification techniques
  • Demonstrate deep understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Demonstrate deep understanding of Infrastructure, IAM and PAM.
  • Experience with AI Security, including securing AI/ML models, preventing adversarial attacks, and ensuring data integrity in AI pipelines.
  • Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK, NIST CSF, CIS Controls, and ability to design scalable security architectures.
  • Experience securing cloud and on-prem environments, including firewall management, microsegmentation, and secure SD-WAN solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with modern endpoint security solutions (e.g., CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender ATP, SentinelOne).
  • Deep understanding of email security technologies (e.g., Proofpoint, Mimecast, Microsoft Defender for Office 365) and phishing/malware prevention strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), Secure Web Gateway (SWG), and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solutions within a Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) framework.
  • Ability to prioritize between and execute on multiple work streams
  • Written and verbal skills for communicating security concepts and solutions


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent from a fully-accredited college or university
  • 6+ Experience in Infrastructure and corporate security architecture
  • Experience with cloud native products and in-depth understanding Zero Trust Principle + years of experience with cloud technologies preferably AWS
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges
  • Ability to manage relationships with other business units, external vendors and stakeholders when IT security risks are present and system or process changes must be made to mitigate risk
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and Agile development environment
  • Work and play well with others; SoFi is a collaborative environment


Nice to have:

  • CISSP, GMLE, or AWS Certified Security Speciality
  • Masters or PhD in Computer Science or Engineering
  • Financial services experience

The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
