About ProtectAI:

Protect AI has been named one of the Top 100 AI most promising artificial intelligence startups of 2023 by CB Insights.

Protect AI is innovating at the cutting edge of ML and Security. AI/ML bring new and unique cybersecurity vulnerabilities. While traditional exploits can be detected and mitigated, new ML-specific threats such as ML code injection attacks, prompt injection attacks and attacks on the ML supply chain require entirely new thinking, research, and methods to help this AI-enabled world be safer for all. Protect AI is giving enterprise cybersecurity and ML teams a common way to understand these new risks by enabling ML developers to build security into their applications from the start.

Job description

Protect AI is seeking a Senior Product Designer to lead and develop our internal design system. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with the design, product, and engineering teams. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the platform’s user experience, supporting the design team in creating new components, UI patterns, and guidelines. You will act as a bridge between design and engineering, ensuring that designs are implemented with the highest standards of UX/UI quality. A deep technical understanding of the product and its various use cases is essential, as is the ability to assess what can or cannot be built within a reasonable timeframe.

You will:

  • Own the Figma component library end-to-end.

  • Actively contribute to Storybook with front-end team.

  • Lead the process of component creation and facilitate communication across global design and engineering teams.

  • Participate in product calls to understand use cases and support the design of scalable components.

  • Assist product and engineering teams in designing new platform features, following best UX practices and interaction design principles.

  • Ensure a smooth component-building process, maintaining consistency, application, and documentation.

  • Make informed design decisions based on customer feedback, stakeholder input, and industry research.

  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders across the company to ensure scoping accounts for all needs and requirements.

What we are looking for:

  • 5+ years of UX/UI design experience (or equivalent).

  • Experience in building and maintaining design systems in Figma.

  • Strong understanding of front-end development.

  • Deep understanding of the design cycle, including concept development, research, scoping, wireframing, designing, prototyping, and testing.

  • Experience working on complex web applications and enterprise software.

  • Experience in designing SaaS products.

  • Proficiency in interaction design and building complex UI patterns.

  • Ability to quickly iterate on designs based on user feedback and research.

  • Strong documentation skills and the ability to effectively present work to product and engineering teams.

  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and responsive design.

  • A portfolio demonstrating a strong grasp of consistency, typography, color, layout design, and attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • A high degree of ownership and accountability for assigned projects.

  • Experience working in an agile environment is a plus.

Qualifications:

  • B.A. in UX Design, Graphic Design, or a related field preferred.

  • Portfolio demonstrating strong user-centered design, research processes, usability principles, and web-based UX/UI examples.

  • Ability to create pixel-perfect mockups and prototypes.

  • Up-to-date with the latest design and UX trends.

  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma.

  • Strong understanding of complementary tools like Storybook and React.

Nice to have:

  • Degree or certification in front-end development (preferred).

  • Experience with B2B enterprise software.

  • Experience in complex data visualization.

What we offer:

  • An exciting and collaborative work environment in a fast-growing startup.

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.

  • Opportunities for professional growth and development, including attending and presenting technical talks at meetups and conferences.

  • A culture that values innovation, accountability, and teamwork.

  • Work with a team of talented and accomplished peers from AWS, Microsoft, and Oracle Cloud.

  • Access to best-in-class tools — MacBook Pro, 34” monitor, modern tech stack, and high-quality collaboration tools.

  • No bureaucracy or legacy systems—you are empowered to innovate and do your best work.

  • Protect AI is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
