Role Description

As a Principal Product Designer at Organize the Cloud, you will be at the forefront of reimagining design for the next generation of AI-powered products. You will help define the future of Dropbox’s AI experiences, collaborating across teams to integrate cutting-edge technologies that make our product even more intuitive, intelligent, and powerful. This role will require you to be a thought leader, driving company-wide initiatives that blend design excellence with forward-thinking AI innovation, making Dropbox’s product ecosystem smarter and more valuable for users.

Your role will focus on: Leading design initiatives across Organize the Cloud, with a particular focus on key customer journeys that drive impactful AI product experiences. Ensuring exceptional design craft within the organization by working closely with talented teams of Product Designers, Design Directors, Research Leads, and Content Designers, maintaining high standards of design excellence and precision. Identifying and driving high-impact, company-level initiatives that align business objectives with customer needs, ensuring that AI-driven innovation is seamlessly integrated into Dropbox’s products.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and define high-level opportunities, especially in AI, that are complex but have the potential to transform the user experience and business outcomes. Bring clarity, insight, and strategic focus to these challenges.
  • Take ownership of strategic, design-led projects, driving them from concept to delivery. Collaborate with the VP of Design to identify key initiatives where your expertise can guide the team toward customer-centered, innovative outcomes.
  • Work with the broader design organization to ensure that all designs are executed to the highest standards of craftsmanship, usability, and AI-powered functionality. Focus on sweating the right details to deliver seamless user experiences.
  • In close partnership with the VP of Design and leadership team, help shape and execute the broader design strategy, influencing product strategy across the org and ensuring alignment with business goals and AI-driven innovation.
  • Develop and implement innovative design patterns and systems that are durable, repeatable, and scalable. Set a new standard for interaction design, especially in the context of AI, and influence future product direction.
  • Collaborate with the Design Leadership Team, Extended Design Leadership Team, General Managers, and the CEO to align strategic design initiatives with company goals.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in a senior Individual Contributor role, with a proven track record of leading high-impact design initiatives. You have deep experience in building innovative AI-driven products and creating transformative user experiences.
  • Exceptional interaction and visual design skills, with the ability to craft compelling user experiences, particularly in AI tech and/or leading consumer products
  • A portfolio showcasing significant contributions to shipping customer experiences that have made a measurable impact on business and customer metrics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with various stakeholder groups, including engineering, product management, and leadership, influencing design strategy and ensuring successful execution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence key stakeholders, from industry leaders to internal teams. Strong storytelling skills to present and advocate for design decisions.
  • Expertise in design thinking methodologies, with a passion for leading teams to create customer-centered solutions and driving design-led innovation.
Preferred Qualifications
  •  Proven ability to lead design efforts in remote or distributed team environments, driving collaboration across time zones and organizational silos.
  • Prior experience with 0-1 product initiatives.
