Senior Pricing Finance Associate

The Senior Pricing Associate will be a member of the Finance team and will have a primary focus on pricing exception management. This person will be responsible for handling prospect pricing requests, reviewing existing client rate changes, performing ad-hoc analysis, responsible for process innovation, represent the team during meetings, and serve as an escalation point for Sales and Account Management.

This individual will play an active role in realizing our long-term version of our pricing program. Identify areas of “friction or waste”, to empower folks to make the right (and much better-informed decisions) on their own.

Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor performance of our pricing models against corporate mission, growth and profitability goals.

  • Recommend incremental changes to pricing models based on data-driven analysis.

  • Analyze deals, client ramp up, bookings, allocations, commissions, etc. and recommend changes.

  • Analyze performance of existing clients in preparation for internal rate change discussions.

  • Review proposed deals to understand likely impact on growth and profitability of proposed discounts or nonstandard pricing structures.

  • Evaluate the portfolio of pricing options and work with Finance leadership to apply the most appropriate method.

  • Work with Sales Executives to ensure that prospects receive a price level and structure consistent with our Corporate mission and vision.

  • Think strategically about athena’s business model and the effect of pricing decisions on the business (e.g. financial, system, people, etc).

  • Follow-up with Sales and/or Account Management teams to educate and occasionally justify pricing decisions.

  • Assist in building athena’s pricing program to a new level. (e.g. objectives, rules, controls, initiatives, governance, results, etc).

  • Act as an ambassador of the finance team and promote pricing transparency and initiatives. Lead coordination with Sales Operations, Billing, Legal, Finance, Product Marketing, Client Solution, and other teams on program roll out.

Typical Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science degree required

  • 3+ years of experience in a high growth business environment 

  • Understanding of the entire client lifecycle (e.g. sales, professional services, account management) and the associated challenges & opportunities during each stage

  • Understanding of the complexities of health care, various reimbursement models, and impact on the prospect’s buying decision

  • Understanding and desire to work on financial analysis, modeling, sensitivity analysis is required.

  • SQL hands on knowledge is highly preferred but not required.

  • The position will require strong communication, analytical ability, and positive attitude
