About You

You are passionate about mobile development, frontend engineering, and crafting beautiful user interfaces and experiences with modern mobile and web technologies. You look for ways to grow your skill set and value high quality application development on modern tech stacks and in the cloud. You are interested in how best to drive tasks to completion, collaborate to achieve your goals, think through scenarios and edge cases, learn from your leadership, and understand the broader impact of your work. You will closely work with the product and design teams to plan, experiment and release features in collaboration with other engineering partners and business stakeholders. Responsibilities

  • Design and build advanced applications for the iOS and Android platforms using React Native

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features

  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code

  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications

  • Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs

  • Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency

  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement

  • Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to understand and refine product requirements

  • Provide mentorship to your peers in the broader engineering team through code reviews and education on best practices


Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, or equivalent degree/experience

  • 3+ years of proven experience in mobile application development using React Native

  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript and related technologies (ES6, TypeScript)

  • Solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle

  • Knowledge of UI/UX standards and mobile design principles

  • Experience with SQL databases like MySQL or Postgres

  • Confident with RESTful API design

  • Great with unit and functional testing and debugging

  • Experience in Git/GitHub and branching methodologies, code review tools, CI tools, etc.

  • Great at algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with React web development and responsive design

  • Experience with SCRUM or similar agile development methodology

  • Experience with native mobile development (Swift/Kotlin)

The compensation for this position ranges from $128,250.00 - $266,875.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives. Yahoo provides industry-leading benefits including healthcare, 401K savings plan, company holidays, vacation, sick time, parental leave and an employee assistance program.
