WHAT YOU’LL DO

As the Senior Marketing Manager for our video podcasts, you’ll spearhead the audience growth strategies for key shows in the Vox Media Podcast Network, with a special focus on growing our podcasts’ YouTube and social communities. You’ll identify target audiences and launch cross-channel marketing campaigns across social, audio, web, newsletters, print and more to drive them to our video and audio content. You’ll work closely with show production teams to optimize their YouTube and social presence, test new strategies for improving audience discovery, retention and engagement, and analyze audience trends and data to improve performance over time. You’ll work with Communications, Engagement, and Editorial teams across the company to identify opportunities for collaboration and cross-promotion. More broadly, you’ll act as a proactive, trusted marketing partner for our show teams and hosts, bringing an audience-first, data-driven perspective to day-to-day discussions about what strategies to pursue to help our shows grow.

Audience Strategy & Analysis

  • Working with the Executive Director of Marketing to create launch and marketing plans, including defining audience targets, key tactics, and messaging
  • Monitoring and analyzing video, social and audio performance for key shows and reporting/interpreting key takeaways to show teams and leadership
  • Using research and data to better understand our target audiences, industry trends and the competitive space for our shows
  • Coordinating with Insights and Engagement teams to develop surveys, focus groups and research projects to help internal teams understand our audiences better

Social & Video Audience Engagement

  • Working with editorial teams, talent and the Executive Director of Marketing to establish long-term social and video audience strategies for select shows in the Vox Media Podcast Network
  • Developing and iterating on social and video best practices to help shows build and retain their cross-channel audiences
  • Working with production and design teams to develop compelling social assets and useful social templates for each of our shows
  • Researching, testing and executing new and innovative ways to engage podcast audiences across platforms, particularly YouTube, Instagram TikTok and other emerging platforms
  • Regularly monitoring and reporting on audience data across social, video and audio channels, providing thoughtful recommendations for improving performance

Show & Network Promotion

  • Identifying and spearheading opportunities for internal and external collaborations between relevant shows and editorial brands
  • Overseeing internal audio and video promos across the network, working with editorial to develop new promos as needed
  • Working alongside show teams to develop compelling positioning and copy for their target audiences (including taglines, show descriptions, promotional copy)
  • Collaborating with internal teams to spotlight our podcasts across Vox Media’s websites, social channels, newsletters, video, text and other channels in creative ways
  • Planning and executing external paid/trade marketing plans for priority shows and campaigns
  • Testing new approaches, tactics and channels for growing audiences
  • Working closely with the communications team to identify earned PR opportunities for hit shows and key talent.


WHO YOU ARE

  • Previous experience building audiences across multiple channels, with deep expertise in YouTube audience growth
  • Strong experience writing consumer-facing marketing copy (e.g. social media posts, video titles, promotional language)
  • Experience analyzing data to make informed decisions, particularly on YouTube and social channels
  • Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders and build strong relationships with internal and external partners, with experience in client service a plus
  • Strong visual design sensibility (experience with Photoshop a plus)
  • A creative, proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
  • Experience in fast-paced and dynamic environments
  • An understanding of audiences across a range of channels and platforms
  • A track record of learning new channels, industries and markets quickly
  • Enthusiasm for learning and growing
  • Experience working with high-profile talent a plus
  • Experience with Premiere, AfterEffects or other video editing tools a plus

PAY TRANSPARENCY

The salary range listed below represents the minimum and maximum base pay for this position at the time of this posting. Final salary offered to the candidate selected for the position will be based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience.
