Toast is driven by building the restaurant platform that helps restaurants adapt, take control, and get back to what they do best: building the businesses they love.

About this Roll* (Responsibilities)

We are building our Product Analytics function from the ground up, and we are looking for a Senior Manager of Product Analytics to lead the charge. This is a foundational role, where you will be responsible for assessing the current analytics landscape, identifying gaps, and implementing the right tools, frameworks, and best practices to empower data-driven decision-making across our product teams.

A key focus of this role will be leading the consolidation of multiple analytics solutions while driving the implementation and adoption of Amplitude across our distributed organization. You will be responsible for ensuring seamless integration, defining best practices for event instrumentation, and fostering a strong data culture around Amplitude. This includes training Product Managers and other stakeholders on how to measure customer outcomes effectively and use data to drive strategic product decisions at scale.

You will work closely with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders to drive analytics strategy, enabling teams to measure impact, understand user behavior, and optimize product experiences. As the function matures, you will build and scale a high-performing Product Analytics team to support the company’s growth.

The Senior Manager of Product Analytics role sits within the Product Operations team at Toast. The Product Operations team is on a mission to empower our Product teams to build great products efficiently, effectively, and at scale. We remove obstacles, foster alignment, and help teams focus on what matters most—solving real problems for our customers. Operating at the intersection of Product, UX, Engineering, Marketing, and Customer Success, we ensure that teams are equipped with the right processes, strategies, and insights to drive meaningful impact.

  • Define and implement the Product Analytics strategy, aligning with Product and Engineering leadership to ensure teams have the right data and insights to make informed decisions.

  • Assess the current analytics infrastructure, identifying gaps and opportunities to implement scalable tooling, dashboards, and data frameworks.

  • Lead the implementation and organization-wide adoption of Amplitude, ensuring seamless integration and proper event tracking across all product lines.

  • Develop standards and best practices for Amplitude instrumentation, experimentation, and reporting to maximize its impact.

  • Partner with Product teams to architect their  event tracking , develop measurement strategies, and create dashboards to track product success using Amplitude.

  • Own and drive the analytics roadmap, prioritizing initiatives that enhance product insights and decision-making.

  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Business Intelligence, and Data Platform teams to ensure a unified approach to analytics.

  • Educate and evangelize data-driven decision-making, ensuring Product Managers and stakeholders have the skills and tools they need to self-serve analytics within Amplitude.

  • Lay the foundation for team growth, with the opportunity to hire and lead a team of product analysts as the function scales.

Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)

  • 7-10+ years of experience in Product Analytics, Data Analytics, or a related field, with a strong understanding of how analytics supports product development.

  • Hands-on experience with product analytics tools (Amplitude is a must) and data querying languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R).

  • Proven ability to lead an organization-wide Amplitude implementation, including tool adoption, instrumentation best practices, and stakeholder training.

  • Deep understanding of A/B testing methodologies, event tracking, and behavioral analytics.

  • Strong leadership and influence skills, with experience driving alignment across Product, Engineering, and Data teams.

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, capable of distilling complex data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders at all levels.

  • A self-starter mindset, excited to build something from scratch and evolve it over time.

  • Experience managing analysts, with a desire to build and lead a team in the future

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
