We are on a mission to change the world to value skills over pedigree. We are a high-performing, mission-driven team that truly, madly, deeply cares about what we do. At HackerRank, we don’t see velocity and quality as tradeoffs - both matter. This sometimes means long days and work spilling into weekends, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. We each find balance in our own way, making time for what matters outside of work while always giving our best. If you are someone who takes pride in high-impact work and thrives in a driven team, HackerRank is where you belong.

About the team:

Our goal in the People Operations team (or POps, as we call ourselves!) is simple: to empower every HackerRanker to reach their highest potential—individually and collectively. We are committed to creating an environment where people have the tools, resources, and support to do their best work.

We are committed to creating an environment where people have the tools, resources, and support they need to do their best work.

About the role:

As the Senior Manager, People Business Partner, you’ll play a key role in supporting the growth of HackerRank’s global Go-To-Market (GTM) team. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to ensure the team has the right talent in the right roles. You'll directly impact leadership development and individual career growth by focusing on key areas such as talent density, employee development, compensation, and organizational design.

This role is based in the US and will also oversee the AMER HR Generalist, including managing benefits and compliance. We’re looking for someone who is both nimble and detail-oriented—a leader who can roll up their sleeves when needed and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

What you will do:

  • Serve as a key member of the GTM leadership team, offering strategic guidance on people-related initiatives and execution.
  • Collaborate closely with leaders on workforce planning, organizational design, performance management, and leadership development to support the business’s high growth.
  • Lead company-wide talent programs within GTM, including talent calibrations and compensation reviews.
  • Address complex employee relations issues with discretion, providing coaching and gathering feedback.
  • Partner closely with other PBPs, HR Generalists, the Talent Acquisition team, and colleagues across the People team to design and implement effective, people-focused solutions.
  • While focused on the Global GTM team, this role may also provide counsel and support to other teams as needed.
  • Oversee benefits and compliance for the AMER region.

You will thrive in this role if:

  • You thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and can seamlessly shift between strategic and tactical tasks. You’re not afraid to "roll up your sleeves" to get things done.
  • You communicate effectively and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • You’re skilled at working with people from diverse backgrounds and can collaborate effectively across all regions.
  • You have the ability to push back when needed, always operating in the best interest of the company while balancing employee needs with consistent company practices.

What you bring:

  • 8+ years of experience in HR business partnering, including at least 2 years of managing a small team.
  • Deep expertise in managing AMER benefits and HR compliance.
  • Proven experience as a People Business Partner, supporting executive leaders, senior and entry-level managers, as well as individual contributors.
  • Bonus: Experience partnering with GTM or customer-facing teams in a high-growth, global organization is highly preferred.
  • Bonus: Experience supporting AMER, EMEA, and APAC regions in a remote setup.

Benefits & Perks:

We have a full package of competitive benefits and perks, which include the following:

  • One-time home office set-up stipend.
  • Monthly Remote Work Enablement Stipend.
  • Professional Development Reimbursement.
  • Wellbeing Benefits (Headspace, etc).
  • Flexible paid time off and paid leave for new parents.
  • Insurance is provided for all employees (term life, personal accident, medical) and their dependents.
  • Employee stock options, flexible work hours, and time off.

Current base salary range: ($140,000 - $180,000). The exact salary may vary based on skills, experience, location, market ranges, and other compensation offered. The salary range does not include other compensation components, commission (for sales-related roles), bonuses, or benefits for which you may be eligible. Salary may be adjusted based on business needs.

But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
